Not really Seun. I meant what are the Internet principles ICANN imbibes or endorses by virtue of it being trans-national institution involved in IG matters. That would also mean defining those principles and listing down these principles on ICANN website. Like NETMundial listed down Internet principles, should ICANN do it too?
Hope this is clear now.Regards,Rahul SharmaOn 30 March 2015 at 12:55, Seun Ojedeji <seun.ojedeji@gmail.com> wrote:Sure ICANN does adopts such general Internet principals and that's why it has an increasing multistakeholder community. I guess the second question has been answered in that context.
However I presume you are trying to make a point; is there any specific aspect of the principles you listed that you think ICANN(and it's community) is not exhibiting or can improve on?
Cheers!

Thank you for your inputs. When I said Internet Principles, I meant principles such as promoting open architecture, protection of intermediaries, preserving human rights, IG process principles, promoting open standards, privacy, diversity, security and stability etc..
Please refer set of Internet principles endorsed by NETMundial: https://www.netmundial.org/principlesThese are over-arching principles, that go beyond technical standards adopted by IETF. In this context, I again post my questions:
- Should a body like ICANN define and adopt Internet Principles it believes in, for its policy, strategy and operations?
- Are group members aware whether decision of endorsement of NETmundial principles is through a public consultation process involving community or an internal ICANN decision unknown to community? Is this a matter that this group working on ICANN Accountability should discuss?

ICANN community sure makes her our principles, the question was asking about who makes INTERNET principles and the closest answer I have to that is the IETF which sets operating standards of the internet globally (Protocol parameters).

Since ICANN is Community just like the IETF, my thoughts are it should
define and adopt the principles it beleives in. I agree with you on
the second answer.
