Over the last several years, ISC has been working hard to focus our attentions on how we can best serve the public good of the Internet, while at the same time keeping our costs under control. As part of that analysis, we took a long hard look at the costs associated with continuing to use 950 Charter as a hosting facility. With the exorbitant power costs of the bay area, the circuit costs and repair and maintenance of the cooling and UPS systems, particularly in light of the declining costs of public/cloud hosting, it just doesn’t make sense for ISC to continue hosting in that facility. We are spending much much more than we’re taking in.

In light of that, we notified most of the Hosted@ guests in 950 Charter early in September that we’d like them to find another home by Oct 31st of this year. Unfortunately, you got missed in that initial email. However, as a critical infrastructure operator, we’d like to work with you to figure out what steps for your hosted equipment makes most sense for all involved, including possibly moving it to another ISC location. Could we setup a time at ICANN to discuss?
