Dear all,

I write this poem to comfort and sympathise with all and sundry. And it is dedicated to the family of the late Baudouin Schombe.

Death's Dirge

We all wait in line for a time which we know not.
When we'll be but a lingering memory to the living.
Such moments are heartbreaking yet it's man's lot.
This is evident now even as we are all mourning.

Death, Death, Death!

He feels and knows nothing about sympathy.
He breaks the bond cherished between loved ones;
His visits are saddened and he has no empathy.
His touch is cold, and cruel and nothing can be done.

Death, Death, Death!

We all might not feel the heat of this loss;
But, we can make a ‘partial‘ sense of death.
Yes, only a partial sense of this life's cross.
To what end is death when we lose our breath?

Death, Death, Death!

We were created to live and to live forever.
But a simple act of disobedience got us here.
It brought Death's cold and dark clouds to hover.
But soon, we'll know no sickness, death, and tears.

Death, Death, Death!

Yes! Soon, death will be no more;
No more of this life's headaches;
No pain, fear, sorrow and no war.
We'll be in bliss; there, no heartache.

There will be a great reunion of all nature;
Reunion of all dead and alive; the obedient ones.
There's hope beyond death for every creature;
Though we cry now, we shall soon sing in joyful tones.

And we will sing about our stories;
Oh! Where is death's victory?
Grave will lose hold of its captives;
This will be the end of Death's story.

May we be comforted by these words.

Thank you.

Dear Members,

I have just received the sad news of the exit of one of our own within AFRALO.

Baudouin Schombe was one of the early contributors to AFRALO, At-Large, ICANN and the Internet Governance(IG) space as a whole.

Death is an inevitable debt that we all will have to pay at some point. On behalf of AFRALO, I express our condolences to his family, the internet society community in DRC and entire IG community.

May his soul rest in peace.
