Dear Hadia and All,
Thank you for sharing this important initiative and for the thoughtful direction toward ICANN86. The focus on strengthening AFRALO’s contributions to transparency and accountability discussions is both timely and impactful.
I would also like to appreciate the 16 members who have already indicated interest in joining the drafting team. Your commitment to advancing AFRALO’s voice within the ICANN community is truly commendable.
I am interested in contributing to this process and would be glad to support the drafting team, particularly by offering insights and participating in reviews where necessary. While my current schedule is quite demanding, I remain committed to adding value where I can and collaborating with the team to achieve a strong and meaningful outcome.
Thank you once again for the opportunity, and I look forward to contributing to this important work.

Dear All,
As we approach ICANN86, we should start the research and drafting process for our ICANN86 statement.
As presented during AFRALO monthly call, one of the key outcomes of the AFRALO-AfrICANN session at ICANN85, was the recognition by participants of the importance of AFRALO statements and the need to continue and further strengthen this work. These statements not only preserve AFRALO's institutional knowledge but also create an important feedback loop with ICANN Board, supported by ICANN staff. In addition, they capture AFRALO's positions on important and emerging topics currently under discussion within the ICANN community.
A survey conducted during the session reviewing AFRALO'S statements by topic across the years revealed that the highest number of statements (11) focused on ICANN Transparency and Accountability.
Given the ongoing community work on the Review of Reviews, and the current public comment proceeding on the standard bylaws' amendment - transition article on specific reviews. ICANN86 AFRALO-AfrICANN session could serve as an opportunity to conduct structured analysis of these 11 statements to:
- Identify gaps, lessons learned and areas where concerns remain unresolved
- Develop a consolidated AFRALO perspective on next steps for improving ICANN accountability and transparency mechanisms, taking into consideration current developments and ongoing work
- Translate the resulting analysis into a new AFRALO statement, providing timely input into the current Review of Reviews work stream
If you agree with the proposal outlined in this email and discussed during the monthly call, please reply to this email indicating your interest in joining the drafting team.
Best wishes
Hadia Elminiawi
