Motivation: RALO Member of 2024 ALAC Appointee Selection Committee by Remmy Nweke
Remmy Nweke is currently the Lead Consulting Strategist at DigitalSENSE Africa, an At-Large
Structure (ALS) certified by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
reputed for representation of interest of domain name end-users in the Internet ecosystem and its
governance for Development (IG4D) which paved the way for his interest to become a member of the At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)
and Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria and part of the global OGP.
Recently Remmy served as a member of the (OGP Nigeria) Non-State Actors Selection Committee for the
National Steering Committee (NSC-III) 2023.
Remmy who doubles as the Group Executive Editor, ITREALMS Media group and publishers of
international multiple awarding platforms, namely ITREALMS Online, DigitalSENSE
Business Magazine & NaijaAgroNet was until recently the vice president, Africa Civil Society on the Information Society (ACSIS).
Remmy was a team member of the WSIS+10 Stakeholder Selection Committee for the UN President’s General Assembly and member Civil Society Selection Committee for the High-level meeting on WSIS+10, respectively. He is equally serving in the Nomination Committee Review Implementation
Working Group (NomComRIWG) of ICANN.
His active membership cuts across the Non-Commercial
Stakeholder Group (NCSG) cum Users Constituency (NCUC) @ICANN; Internet Society Nigeria
Chapter, Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) – Coordinator, Harmonization of
Organizational Online Credentials, whereas he served as the pioneer Secretary, Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) Lagos branch, even as he served presently as the Publicity Secretary, GOCOP to name but a few.
DigitalSENSE Africa has been organizing and holding Internet Governance for Development (IG4D)
since 2009 under the auspice of DigitalSENSE Africa forum series on Internet Governance and Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable to name but a few, whilst ITREALMS in year 2020 introduced its annual E-Waste Dialogue to engage stakeholders as deemed relevant.
As a member of the Nigeria Internet Governance –Multistakeholders Advisory Group (NIG-MAG) till
date since inception, Remmy served on the board of Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA),
managers of .ng ccTLD, as elected Executive Director where he headed the Communications and
Publicity until 2015, and lately chair, Communication and Advocacy Committee (CAC) at IPv6 Council, Nigeria.
He further served equally as Non-Profit Organisations Concerns (NPOC) Representative to the Finance Committee of Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group (NCSG) at ICANN and in various committees including policy, communication and membership.
An alumnus of University of Malta, Diplo Foundation Malta and International Institute of Journalism
(IIJ) Berlin-German, Remmy prides himself with over 25-year experience in media practice, even as the author of ‘A Decade of ICT Reportage in Nigeria ... the award-winning series” and “Sagacity of Digital Revolution” to name a few.
As a tech-mediapreneuer, Remmy is a certified member of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ),
Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), ICT Media Think as well as CAADP Journalists Network (Nigeria), and National Coordinator, Media against Child Malnutrition in Nigeria (MeCAM) among others, whereas presently, the editor of AFRALO eNewsletter, published by the African Regional At-Large Organisation of the (AFRALO-ICANN), and
facilitates training on IG4D for mainstreaming gender, especially for women, child online safety, Domain Name System (DNS) industry and new media in pursiut of good governance.
Having served in the 2023 Non-State Actors Selection Committee of the Open Government Partnership
(OGP) Nigeria, Remmy hereby interest to be a member of the RALO Member of 2024 ALAC Appointee Selection Committee to contribute to the processes.

Under the request of Jonathan Zuck, Chair of the ALAC and ALAC Appointee Selection Committee (AASC) we are issuing a call for members of the 2024 AASC.
The AASC reviews applications for various positions related to the ALAC and makes recommendations to the ALAC on which candidates to appoint or endorse.
The AASC is Chaired by the ALAC Chair and is composed of:
- The ALAC Leadership Team excluding the ALAC Chair (Justine Chew, Claire Craig, Raihanth Gbadamassi, Joanna Kulesza, and one other ALAC Member from the Chair's region - NARALO);
- One member representing each RALO.
The AASC selects people to occupy critical positions and AASC members must be both able and willing to take the time to review applications in detail and to participate in the decisions of the Committee.
