We have successfully organised our AFRALO’s first regional UA Day, with the second currently underway, showcasing the commitment of the entire AFRALO community to digital inclusion.
These accomplishments reflect our collective commitment to strengthening AFRALO’s role within Africa and the ICANN community. As my term concludes at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, I look forward to the opportunity to continue in the role of AFRALO Chair for a final two-year term, building on the progress we have made, striving to surpass it and learning from all previous AFRALO leaders. I respectfully seek your support. My At-Large Structure is Shaarawy Foundation for Development (SFD).
As you may already know I am a member of the SSAC, I was an ICANN58 fellow. My previous roles within the ICANN community include serving a ALAC-AFRALO representative to the NomCom from the 2019 to 2021 AGMs and as ALAC AFRALO member from the 2017 to 2019 AGMs. I am also an active member of the At-Large CPWG and the OFBWG and have contributed to several PDPs and regional ICANN strategies.
By training, I am an engineer, I hold a B.Sc. in Electronics and Communications from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, a M.Sc. in Management and Leadership from Szent Istvan University in Hungary and a Diploma in Engineering Management also from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. I am also interested in Internet Governance and have participated in several global and regional IGFs

Hadia Elminiawi
Hello All.
Hadia, you have my FULL SUPPORT for a second term.
Even though I contested with you in your first tenure but your antecedents in the last two years has proven your victory was and is appropriate for AFRALO. For over 25 years since I have been a member of AFRALO, I have never seen ANY versatile leader as you. You are not only intelligent, you are detribalised and not motivated by premordial allegiance of favouritism and nepotism that has over the years driven some of the past leadership of this organisation. I know some might hate me the more for this comment but I'm used to being brutally blunt.
You are innovative and open to intelligent and superior arguements. You are never threatened by any opposing views
The saying that the taste of the pudding is in the eating is apt in your case. Until you became our Chair, I had no opportunity of "tasting or eating" from your leadership prowess. But now I have tasted and can convincingly proclaim, you are good to be "eaten".😊
Congratulations because, I do not see anyone challenging you this time around. Carry Go! Nothing do you!!!

___________________________________________ ____Dear AFRALO Community,
I hope you’re all well!
Regarding the announcement for ALAC regional representative nominations, I would like to nominate Professor Aziz Hilali for a second term as the ALAC representative for AFRALO.
As many of you know, Aziz is a passionate advocate for AFRALO and consistently brings African end-users' perspectives to the ICANN community. His extensive connections across the community, hosted ICANN and us in Morocco multiple times, besides his deep experience in Internet governance as the founder and leader of ISOC Morocco, make him exceptionally qualified for this role.
During his first ALAC term (2023-2025), Aziz has been active, making impactful contributions to ICANN policy development while strongly representing our regional interests in global Internet governance discussions.
Supporting his nomination for a second term would ensure valuable continuity and strong leadership for AFRALO within ALAC. Hi s continued service would build upon the relationships and initiatives he has already established.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Mohamed Elbashir
