We hope this email finds you well and in good health. 

The ICANN78 AGM will be held from 21-26 October 2023 at CCH - Congress Center Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany.

This meeting will take place as a hybrid event https://meetings.icann.org/en/icann78

As usual, we plan to hold the Joint AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting and as we are so close to the date of meeting, we would like to invite you to submit topics for this session.

For your information our previous statements have focused on issues like: Universal Acceptance as a means of accessing the Internet in local languages, Improvement of  African Participation in ICANN,Best Practices for DNS Operations in Africa, Domain Name System (DNS) Abuse, Universal Acceptance, evolving the ICANN Multistakeholder model, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), New gTLD Subsequent Procedures, enhancing ICANN accountability, etc. Please see our previous statements here

These wide ranges of topics mentioned above are given as examples of topics we have treated in the past. You are invited to suggest other topics for discussion at ICANN78. 

As is the norm, the topic that receives the most support will be selected.

 Please see our proposed timeline: 

· 16 -30 August 2023: Call for topics and drafting team

· 31 August 2023: Announcement of Selected topic & drafting team composition 

· 01 - 10 Sep 2023: First Draft of Statement

· 11 - 20 Sep 2023: Second Draft of Statement 

· 21 Sep 2023: sending to Staff + FR Statement translation  

Kindly send your suggested topics and volunteer for drafting by Wednesday 30 August 2023, after which the drafting team will be constituted to prepare a draft statement that will be shared with the rest of the members.

If you would like to join the drafting team, kindly notify us via the mailing list or to me directly off list.

Comme d'habitude, nous prévoyons de tenir la réunion conjointe AFRALO-AfrICANN et comme nous sommes si proches de la date de la réunion ,nous aimerions vous inviter à travers cet appel à soumettre vos thèmes/sujets.

Pour votre information, les déclarations précédentes se sont concentrées sur des sujets tels que: L’acceptation universelle en tant que moyen d’accès à Internet dans des langues locales,l'abus du Système de Noms de Domaine (DNS), l'Acceptation Universelle (AU),Amélioration de la participation africaine à l'ICANN ,l'évolution du modèle multipartite de l'ICANN, le RGPD, les procédures ultérieures des nouveaux gTLD, les meilleures pratiques pour le fonctionnement des DNS en Afrique,le Processus Accéléré de développement de politiques (EPDP), l’amélioration de la responsabilité de l'ICANN,

Ce large éventail de thèmes mentionnés ci-dessus est donné à titre d'exemple. 

Vous pouvez bien entendu suggérer d'autres sujets et comme c'est la norme, le sujet qui recevra le plus de soutien sera sélectionné.

Veuillez consulter le calendrier proposé:

· 16 - 30 Août  2023 : Appel à proposition des sujets/thèmes et de l’équipe de rédaction ;

· 31 Août 2023 : Annonce du sujet sélectionné et constitution de l'équipe de rédaction ;

· 01 - 10 Sep 2023 : Premier projet (brouillon) de déclaration ;

· 11- 20 Sep 2023 : Deuxième ébauche de déclaration ;

· 21 Sept 2023 : Envoi au personnel de l’ICANN pour la Traduction de la déclaration;

Veuillez envoyer vos suggestions de sujets et vous porter volontaire pour rejoindre l'équipe de  la rédaction d'ici le Mercredi 30 Août  2023, après quoi l'équipe de rédaction sera constituée pour préparer un projet de déclaration qui sera partagé avec le reste des membres.

Si vous souhaitez rejoindre l'équipe de rédaction, veuillez nous en informer hors liste.
