Subject: [Ext] Re: [AFRI-Discuss] IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT- Re-election AFRALO NOMCOM Representative 2019- 2020
Dear Staff,
With this email I would like to nominate myself for the position of AFRALO NomCom Representative.
As AFRALO Representative to the ALAC and an active member of several ICANN working groups and subcommittees; such as
I participate in F2F meetings, calls and policy development processes regarding many ICANN related topics that impact Internet users and lead to advises, statements and
policy recommendations. To that end I am familiar with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom appoints and familiar with At-large and the wider ICANN community expectations
As the Director of the DNS Entrepreneurship Center, I work on developing the Internet ecosystem. This requires an understanding of the needs of end users and the region
in relation to the advancement of the Internet. It is also requires a lot of outreach and engagement, which allows me to interact and work with the community. All of this enriches my understanding and familiarity with the community and gives me the opportunity
to engage with many active and brilliant people. I believe all this will help me in conducting the outreach required by a NomCom member.
My participation in policy development processes like the EPDP, and other regional and local events like DNS forums, ME SIG, and AF IGF, in addition to being a current board
member of the Egyptian Diplomats Spouses Association and previously on other non profit boards has taught me to listen carefully, defend my positions and work collaboratively with others.
Through my current work and past experience at .eg, the Hungarian National Trading House, the Board of the American International School of Budapest and some other roles,
I have gained experience and knowledge in relation to candidate selection. With the ability to understand different candidates and acknowledge different abilities and talents.
I am fluent in English (listening, reading, writing and speaking), and have good online skills, where I write and edit the DNS-EC's English newsletter and have contributed to policy recommendations and statements. I also commit to the time
and travel requirements.
If selected as the AFRALO NomCom Representative, I shall work collaboratively with others to ensure that the interests of the Internet community are met.
Kind regards
Hadia Elminiawi
