Affiner CALL FOR A THEME FOR THE JOINT AFRALO/AfrICANN MEETING AT ICANN 53 BUENOS AIRES
Dear Colleagues, As in previous ICANN meetings, this is a call for a theme of the joint AFRALO/ICANN meeting to discuss issues or subjects of interest to our region at the scheduled ICANN 53 meeting in Buenos Aires, which takes place from 21-25 June 2015. The purpose of this message therefore is to request you to suggest a theme that is appropriate for the meeting. We are also looking forward for presentation of a “joint statement” to the attention of ICANN at the end of this meeting. We would appreciate your proposal being sent as soon as possible (before 30, April 2015). Please note that beyond at this time period, if we do not receive any proposal; the Leadership of AFRALO will constitute a drafting committee that will decide the theme and propose to the Community a draft statement to ICANN. This statement will be discussed at the meeting in Buenos Aires. The subject chosen should be relevant to the interest of two organizations: AfrICANN and AFRALO. It should be noted that the interest of this tradition, which we organize together since the Brussels meeting, is to express the point of view of the African ICANN community on current issues that are of interest to the ICANN community. Hello everyone, it is clear, and it's a good idea, AFRALO and Afrinic get together, specifically in the context of large current problem including THE SECURITY IN CYBERSPACE. This cyber security problem becomes more and more a terrible daily concern seen repeated attacks and even targeted. Africa can not remain indifferent although for now the mapping in this area indicates the attacks are perpetrated to 70% in Europe and the USA. It is in this light that I propose the following theme "Africa and the challenges of cybersecurity." Bonjour à tous, il est évident, et c'est une bonne idée, qu'Afralo et Afrinic se mettent ensemble, spécifiquement dans le contexte du grand problème d'actualité notamment LA SECURITÉ DANS LE CYBERESPACE. Ce problème de cybersécurité devient de plus en plus une terrible préoccupation quotidienne vu les attaques répétées et même ciblées. L'Afrique ne peut rester indifférente même si pour l'instant la cartographie dans ce domaine indique ces attaques sont perpetrées à 70% en Europe et aux USA.
