Hello All, I would like to nominate Alex Corenthin for the position of ALAC member representing AFRALO. Alex is the founding member and first President of ISOC Senegal, Member of the National Digital Council of Senegal. He has notably contributed to reflect, at national and international levels, on the issues and development of the digital ecosystem. He participated and organized several meetings of ICANN and ISOC in Senegal and in other countries. He is a member of the African community of ICANN (africann) and participated in the development and follow-up of the African strategy Alex is a lecturer and researcher at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Senegal and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Engineering Department of the École Polytechnique. Nevertheless, I would like to let you know that I decided not to contest the position letting others do. I have been there for a while, and it is wise to permit to the other members to enter the ALAC as AFRALO representative.

I came to AFRALO in 2008, and I tried my best to raise the image and the credibility of AFRALO by several initiatives such as organizing an ALS showcase every time the ICANN meeting is held on an African land, a face to face capacity building for the African ALS representatives, the AFRALO-AfrICANN joint meeting where we debate an ICANN hot topic and come up with a statement representing the consensus opinion of all Africans participating in the ICANN meeting, as well as the local community engagement that permitted us to bring local community members of the country (or sub-region) where the ICANN meeting is held into the ICANN meeting and engage them (Durban, Marrakech 2016, Johannesburg and Marrakech 2019), etc.

This has been achieved with your confidence and your engagement, and also because we had at that time engaged and collaborative people at the AFRALO leadership. Of course, I can’t forget to mention the encouragement and the help of the ALAC Chair at that time, and the support of some of the Board members

The image of AFRALO jumped very high and our RALO was and still is the only RALO who discuss policy issues and provide their opinion thereupon. It is the first to do showcases, capacity building, local community engagement, etc. All the other RALOs followed.

All this wouldn’t be possible without our unity, without the engagement of all who can dedicate time and energy, and without the trust and encouragement of those who can’t because of their heavy duties elsewhere. United, we did all this and we are at the top of our visibility and credibility.

I do thank you very much for all you gave to AFRALO and AFRICA. Thank you for staying united despite several attempts to divide our community. AFRALO is strong because we all think of the benefit of AFRALO, not our own interest. Please keep it like this.

Finally, I’m sorry to decline the nomination, and I would like to thank all those who reach out to me privately asking me to accept the nomination. I do understand your rational, but I think it’s wise to step down, even if it is for a moment. Alex is the founding member and first President of ISOC Senegal, Member of the National Digital Council of Senegal.  He has notably contributed to reflect, at national and international levels, on the issues and development of the digital ecosystem.

He participated and organized several meetings of ICANN and ISOC in Senegal and in other countries. He is a member of the African community of ICANN (africann) and participated in the development and follow-up of the African strategy

I would like to thank Gabdibé for nominating me for another term as ALAC member appointed by AFRALO. I Also thank Michel and Dave for their support to the nomination. I’m proud of your trust.

Nevertheless, I would like to let you know that I decided not to contest the position letting others do. I have been there for a while, and it is wise to permit to the other members to enter the ALAC as AFRALO representative.

I came to AFRALO in 2008, and I tried my best to raise the image and the credibility of AFRALO by several initiatives such as organizing an ALS showcase every time the ICANN meeting is held on an African land, a face to face capacity building for the African ALS representatives, the AFRALO-AfrICANN joint meeting where we debate an ICANN hot topic and come up with a statement representing the consensus opinion of all Africans participating in the ICANN meeting, as well as the local community engagement that permitted us to bring local community members of the country (or sub-region) where the ICANN meeting is held into the ICANN meeting and engage them (Durban, Marrakech 2016, Johannesburg and Marrakech 2019), etc.

This has been achieved with your confidence and your engagement, and also because we had at that time engaged and collaborative people at the AFRALO leadership. Of course, I can’t forget to mention the encouragement and the help of the ALAC Chair at that time, and the support of some of the Board members

The image of AFRALO jumped very high and our RALO was and still is the only RALO who discuss policy issues and provide their opinion thereupon. It is the first to do showcases, capacity building, local community engagement, etc. All the other RALOs followed.

All this wouldn’t be possible without our unity, without the engagement of all who can dedicate time and energy, and without the trust and encouragement of those who can’t because of their heavy duties elsewhere. United, we did all this and we are at the top of our visibility and credibility.

I do thank you very much for all you gave to AFRALO and AFRICA. Thank you for staying united despite several attempts to divide our community. AFRALO is strong because we all think of the benefit of AFRALO, not our own interest. Please keep it like this.

Finally, I’m sorry to decline the nomination, and I would like to thank all those who reach out to me privately asking me to accept the nomination. I do understand your rational, but I think it’s wise to step down, even if it is for a moment. I let AFRALO in good hands, and I’m sure the current and upcoming leaders will continue the job and even raise the bar higher. Alex is the founding member and first President of ISOC Senegal, Member of the National Digital Council of Senegal. He has notably contributed to reflect, at national and international levels, on the issues and development of the digital ecosystem.

He participated and organized several meetings of ICANN and ISOC in Senegal and in other countries. He is a member of the African community of ICANN (africann) and participated in the development and follow-up of the African strategy

Chers tous, D’abord, désolé d’avoir omis de faire une version Française de mon mail ci-dessous. en voici une: Je voudrais remercier Gabdibé pour m’avoir nominé pour un autre mandat de membre d’ALAC désigné par AFRALO. Mes remerciements vont aussi à Michel et Dave pour leur soutien de la nomination. Je suis fière de votre confiance. Cependant, j’aimerais vous faire part de ma décision de ne pas me porter candidat pour cette position et donner l’occasion pour d’autre de se présenter. J’ai été à cette position depuis déjà un certain temps, et je trouve que c’est sage de permettre à d’autres membres d’entrer à l’ALAC représentant AFRALO. Je suis arrivé à AFRALO in 2008, et j’ai essayé de rehausser son image et sa crédibilité par plusieurs initiatives comme l’organisation de showcase des ALS Africaines chaque fois que la réunion d’ICANN est tenue sur le sol African, d’une formation présentielle pour les représentants des ALS Africaines, des réunions conjointes AFRALO-AfrICANN où nous discutons un sujet brulant d’ICANN et rédigeons une déclaration portant l’opinion consensuelle des Africains présents à la réunion d’ICANN sur le sujet, ainsi que l’engagement de la communauté locale qui nous a permis d’introduire des membres de la communauté locale du pays ou de la sous région où la réunion d’ICANN ait lieu dans la réunion d’ICANN en vue de leur engagement dans les activités de l’ICANN (Durban, Marrakech 2016, Johannesburg and Marrakech 2019), etc. Tout ça était réalisé avec votre confiance et votre engagement, et aussi peace que nous avions à ces moments des dirigeants d’AFRALO engagés et collaboratifs. Je ne peux pas oublié de mentionner les encouragements et l’aide de la présidente de l’ALAC à ce moment et le soutien de certains membres du conseil d’administration d’ICANN. L’image d’AFRALO a fait un bond significatif, et notre RALO était et est encore le seul RALO qui discute des questions de politique et donne son point de vue là-dessus. Il était le premier à faire les Showcases, les formations, l’engagement des communautés locales, etc. Les autres RALO ont suivi. Celà n’aurait pas été possible sans notre unité, sans l’engagement de tous ceux qui pouvaient dédier du temps et de l’énergie, et sans la confiance et les encouragements de ceux qui ne pouvaient pas à cause de leurs lourdes charges par ailleurs. Unis, nous avons fait tout ça et nous sommes au sommet de notre visibilité et notre crédibilité. Je vous remercie tous pour tout ce que vous avez donné à AFRALO et à l’Afrique. Merci pour être restés unis malgré les tentatives de diviser notre communauté. AFRALO est fort parce que nous pensons tous à l’intérêt d’AFRALO, pas à nos intérêts personnels respectifs. Maintenons le comme ça ! Pour conclure, je voudrais remercier tous ceux qui m’ont contacté en privé me demandant d’accepter la nomination que je suis désolé de décliner. Je comprends parfaitement vos raisons, mais je pense qu’il est sage de m’arrêter, même si c’est pour un moment. I would like to thank Gabdibé for nominating me for another term as ALAC member appointed by AFRALO. I Also thank Michel and Dave for their support to the nomination. I’m proud of your trust.

Nevertheless, I would like to let you know that I decided not to contest the position letting others do. I have been there for a while, and it is wise to permit to the other members to enter the ALAC as AFRALO representative.

I came to AFRALO in 2008, and I tried my best to raise the image and the credibility of AFRALO by several initiatives such as organizing an ALS showcase every time the ICANN meeting is held on an African land, a face to face capacity building for the African ALS representatives, the AFRALO-AfrICANN joint meeting where we debate an ICANN hot topic and come up with a statement representing the consensus opinion of all Africans participating in the ICANN meeting, as well as the local community engagement that permitted us to bring local community members of the country (or sub-region) where the ICANN meeting is held into the ICANN meeting and engage them (Durban, Marrakech 2016, Johannesburg and Marrakech 2019), etc.

This has been achieved with your confidence and your engagement, and also because we had at that time engaged and collaborative people at the AFRALO leadership. Of course, I can’t forget to mention the encouragement and the help of the ALAC Chair at that time, and the support of some of the Board members

The image of AFRALO jumped very high and our RALO was and still is the only RALO who discuss policy issues and provide their opinion thereupon. It is the first to do showcases, capacity building, local community engagement, etc. All the other RALOs followed.

All this wouldn’t be possible without our unity, without the engagement of all who can dedicate time and energy, and without the trust and encouragement of those who can’t because of their heavy duties elsewhere. United, we did all this and we are at the top of our visibility and credibility.

I do thank you very much for all you gave to AFRALO and AFRICA. Thank you for staying united despite several attempts to divide our community. AFRALO is strong because we all think of the benefit of AFRALO, not our own interest. Please keep it like this.

Finally, I’m sorry to decline the nomination, and I would like to thank all those who reach out to me privately asking me to accept the nomination. I do understand your rational, but I think it’s wise to step down, even if it is for a moment. I let AFRALO in good hands, and I’m sure the current and upcoming leaders will continue the job and even raise the bar higher. Of course, I will be around, attending the AFRALO calls and participating in working groups. Anything you need, please don’t hesitate to contact me, and I will help as much as I can.

Alex is the founding member and first President of ISOC Senegal, Member of the National Digital Council of Senegal. He has notably contributed to reflect, at national and international levels, on the issues and development of the digital ecosystem.

He participated and organized several meetings of ICANN and ISOC in Senegal and in other countries. He is a member of the African community of ICANN (africann) and participated in the development and follow-up of the African strategy

Alex is a lecturer and researcher at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Senegal and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Engineering Department of the École Polytechnique.

Dear Ramanou, Thank you for nominating Sarah Kiden for ALAC member from AFRALO and I second this nomination. Sarah has done a wonderful job as secretary to the AFRALO with outstanding, timely communication of community activities among others. In Uganda, she has as well played a role in training and sensitizing the research and education community in good internet practices as well as introducing ICANN work to the community.
