Passing away of two members of the At-Large community
Dear At-Large Community members and Staff colleagues: I have the sad duty to inform you that Aloyce Menda, Coordinator of AFRALO ALS Journalists' Union for Science & Technology Advancement in Africa (JUSTA-AFRICA), lost his battle with liver cancer on 6th April 2009. He was 50. At the same time, we have been informed that Paco de Quito, ALS Representative of ISOC Catalan in EURALO, has passed away suddenly on 9th April at the age of 62. Sad to hear this, Nick. Although I did not have an opportunity to meet Paco, I met Alois at ICANN Lisbon in 2007 & I think I met him again in one of the subsequent ICANN meetings. I am sure that I saw Aloyce in Mexico City and that must have been only 5 weeks earlier. He had attended a few ICANN meetings and was a fellow AFRALO pioneer. This was sad news indeed, we will surely miss him. RIP my brother. Alan
