Dear All, Thank you Sarah for sending out this call. My suggestion: We discuss how we can improve and understand how the new TLD’s can have a direct impact on our social welfare. We still don't understand the impact or appreciate the importance of having more gTLD's especially as Africans because of a number of obvious reasons. Not realizing this might have an impact on us in the years to come when they are all gone and we realized we missed out on this opportunity. To understand its impact and penetration requires a cost and benefits analysis which can be done by ICANN and presented in a more friendly manner while encouraging our registers to enlight the public more. The truth is poverty and lack of amenities is a serious issue for us and the best way we understand new things is to see how they have a direct impact on our day to day well-being. Thanks Abdulkarim 2018-09-10 17:12 GMT+01:00 Sarah Kiden <skiden@gmail.com>:

Dear all, Thinking broadly, the open data initiative initiated by ICANN president is one of the good initiative that will help address the issues of data collection, processing, transfer, access and non-public data, linscing etc. We should also take into consideration the kind of technology or tools that might be needed in data collection and also help in linking platforms. The key objective of this the topic should help facilitate the design, development and implementation of: 1. a robust mobile and cloud based data collection software 2. Monitoring and Evaluation Software Solution 3. Integrated solution to Management Information System 4. Infrastructure setup The ICANN open data initiative in general should help address the following: 1. To gather and publish accurate, reliable and robust data across regions and national levels 2. To obtain integrated Information across various dataset such as population, services and classification that will inform decision making 3. To make evidence base decision making for improved policy, regulatory and institutional framework. 4. Enhanced data production, quality, dissemination and application. 5. The ICANN open data initiative in general should help address the following: 1. 5.
Veuillez consulter notre calendrier ci-dessous :

Dear all, The call for topics expired yesterday and we received proposals from Abdulkarim, Wisedom, Barrack, Bamba, Hadia, Abiola and Liz. Thank you for participating in the topic selection process. The topics received are new gTLD subsequent procedure, Open data, EPDP and IDN / Universal acceptance. Seun commented on the proposal for EDPD saying the EPDP work is very fast moving and there is a high chance that whatever we have as a draft may become obsolete by AFRALO/AFRICANN meeting. I agree with him. The new gTLD subsequent procedure is one of the most hot subject today at ICANN. It was proposed by several persons. But it contains several topics such as open round or consecutive rounds, application fees, applicant support, community applications, etc. If we decide to address them all together, our statement will be superficial. We need to be focused and give clear and precise opinion to have the required impact. I think we should choose among: Open round or consecutive rounds Application fees, Applicant support, Community applications I propose « Community Applications » since in the 2012 round, the community application was a big failure, and I think we need to give our opinion on how to make it successful. Please give your proposals as soon as possible, and not later than Monday 17 September. To respect the timeline, I also propose that we start forming the drafting team so that on 17 September, we will have the final topic identified and the drafting team formed. I’m volunteering to be on the drafting team. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tijani BEN JEMAA Executive Director Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) Phone: +216 98 330 114 +216 52 385 114 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all, Tijani has made a good suggestion and I would be happy to support this. I am actually one of the 3 pen holders for the community application working group with the Atlarge Consolidated Policy Working Group (CPSG) which meet weekly and we are due to submit out contributions in a week or so. Therefore I would be happy to contribute if we all agree with Tijani. Thanks On Fri, Sep 14, 2018 at 9:47 AM, Tijani BEN JEMAA <tijani.benjemaa@topnet.tn

The call for topics expired yesterday and we received proposals from Abdulkarim, Wisedom, Barrack, Bamba, Hadia, Abiola and Liz. I think we should choose among:
- Open round or consecutive rounds - Application fees, - Applicant support, - Community applications
I propose « Community Applications » since in the 2012 round, the community application was a big failure, and I think we need to give our opinion on how to make it successful. Please give your proposals as soon as possible, and not later than Monday 17 September. To respect the timeline, I also propose that we start forming the drafting team so that on 17 September, we will have the final topic identified and the drafting team formed. I’m volunteering to be on the drafting team.

Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email finds you well. The ICANN63 meeting in Barcelona, Spain is only about 1.5 months away. We plan to have the Joint AFRALO- AfrICANN meeting as agreed during the AFRALO monthly call on 5 September 2018. This is a call for topics for the statement for the meeting.
We have several topics to choose from since we are now commenting on the initial report of the new Generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) subsequent procedures Policy Development Process (PDP) Working Group (an open round or consecutive rounds, Universal Acceptance, application fees, applicant support, community applications, etc). We also have the Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP) working now and we may choose to give our opinion as a region on several aspects of the temporary specifications like data collection, processing, transfer, retention, and access to non-public data).
This wide range of topics mentioned above are given as examples. Of course, you may suggest other topics if you so desire.
As is the norm, the topic that receives the most support will be selected. A drafting team will then be constituted to prepare the statement.
