Dear AFRALO Community Members, I hope this message finds you well. As a committed and engaged community, we constantly strive to enhance the effectiveness and inclusivity of AFRALO. To achieve this goal, I am proposing a structured approach to modify our current membership process and procedures. The objective is to ensure that all voices are heard, and decisions are taken through a transparent and collaborative process. Proposal Overview: 1. *Initial Suggestion Gathering:* We will begin by gathering suggestions and ideas from AFRALO members regarding potential modifications to the membership process and procedures. These suggestions can be submitted through emails or our platform. *(As we start since the topic raised)* 2. *Teleconferencing Discussions:* Once we have collected the initial suggestions, we will conduct teleconferencing sessions to discuss and debate the proposals in detail to enable members from various African countries to participate actively. 3. *Face-to-Face Discussion at General Assembly in Ghana:* To strengthen the sense of community and facilitate in-depth discussions, we will schedule dedicated sessions during the AFRALO General Assembly in Ghana for further deliberations on the proposed changes. 4. *Two Weeks for Public Comments:* After the face-to-face discussions, we will provide a two-week window for all AFRALO members to submit their comments and additional input on the proposed modifications. Members can post their comments on the AFRALO portal, ensuring accessibility and transparency. 5. *Voting Process:* Following the comments period, we will conduct an online voting process on the proposed modifications. Each AFRALO member will have the opportunity to cast their vote. Permit me to modify it thus: all members and anyone on the AFRILIST interested in the governance structure of AFRALO to look into the existing MOU and ROP and identify areas in need of amendments or expunging and share with the ROP WG and also copy all members. The ROP WG can look at any proposal and those fitting into the TOR would be treated while those outside will be recommended for further action in phase two. NOTE: The work of the ROP WG does not remove the RIGHT of any member to raise ANY MOTION for the amendment of any section of the ROP/MOU at the GA provided that the motion is seconded and a vote cast. See Article 7.5 of AFRALO Operating Principles: “At any meeting where at least one half (1/2) of members are present, a motion to amend, change, or repeal the Operating Principles may be initiated. Two-thirds of the whole membership must consent for the motion to carry “ If all the ALS take time to read the MOU and ROP you will agree with me that, the ROP WG to me is a waste of manpower and time. All everyone is to do is read and note areas that need amendment and raise the motion on the floor of the GA. I have shared my areas that needed amendments with the ROP WG and the general members in the past. Those are the NOMINATION PROCESS and TENURE of all elected AFRALO leaders. And I made proposals which I shall be glad to share with everyone as we prepare to go to Ghana. Dear Moataz. I am humbled at your response and energised at your renewed vigour to help promote this drive of restructuring the governance of AFRALO. AND please, help to encourage all the other leaders of the ALSecs to to take more than a passing interest in all that we do within AFRALO. If done right we can become a benchmark for other RALOS PLEASE, I have attached as PDF Document to this email my proposal as it were in Johannesburg 2017. The document is still relevant today as it were then. Cette situation de monopole linguistique constitue effectivement un frein pour active participation des membres francophones aux diverses formes de réunions et d'échanges. Et je sais que cela est valable aussi pour nos frères et amis anglophones avec qui nous n'arrivons pas facilement à nous entendre par manque de traducteurs entre nous. Je pense très sincèrement qu'il faut faire un plaidoyer afin que l'organisation ICANN mette à la disposition de lAfRALO du staff pour la traduction de tous nos travaux, en f2f ou en.mode hybride. Dans tous les cas, nous avons besoin au niveau de la production du Bulletin d'information ou Newsletter. Les AG sont effectivement le lieu pour apporter des amendements et des modifications aux différents textes qui régissent le fonctionnement de toute organisation. Les propositions faites par Peters et Moataz devraient être soumises à l'appréciation de l'assemblée générale, corrigées ou amendées puis validées par ma même AG pour entrer en vigueur à partir du moment qui sera aussi précisé.
