[English] Dear Colleagues and Friends, As we have done during the previous ICANN meetings, we will be holding a joint AFRALO/AfrICANN meeting to discuss issues or subjects of interest to our region at the scheduled ICANN 58 meeting in Copenhagen, which takes place from 11-16 March 2017. The purpose of this message therefore is to ask you to please, suggest a theme you think would be the most pertinent in this regard. We are also looking forward for presentation of a “joint statement” to the attention of ICANN at the end of this meeting. We would appreciate your proposal being sent before 10 February 2017. Please note that beyond the 10th of February, if we do not receive any proposal; the leadership of AFRALO will constitute a drafting committee that will decide the theme and propose to the Community a draft statement to ICANN. This statement will be discussed at the meeting in Copenhagen. The subject chosen should be relevant to the interest of two organizations: AfrICANN and AFRALO. It should be noted that the interest of this tradition is to express the point of view of the African ICANN community on current issues of interest to the ICANN community.

Many thanks Dave, Can you share your experiences on why there has been low applications from applicants from the Africa Region and where we need to improve? (that is if you are allowed to do so?) Regards On 2/16/17, Dave Kissoondoyal <dave@isoc-mu.org> wrote:

Dear Barrack, So far we have received 8 applicants from Africa compared to only 5 from Europe. But we can still improve as the deadline is 21st March 2017. Please help us spread the message in our community. We are also facing the hurdle to attract more female candidates since we have on 15.69 % applicants as female. Out of 51 applications that we have received, there are only 8 female candidates. Grateful to you also if you could please help us to outreach for Female candidates from Africa. In fact we need more candidates, both male and female, from our region. Thanks and best regards Dave Kissoondoyal
