The ICANN accountability has 2 work streams as I explained on the call.
To make it very simplified, we can say:
· WS1 will focus on accountability issues related to the stewardship transition
· WS2 will address all other aspects of ICANN accountability
As you see, the ICANN accountability will have a part related to the transition, and if accepted, the theme will cover both aspects of accountability.
It was proposed because the accountability mechanisms will shape the new face of ICANN and consequently its governance. It doesn’t have the same deadlines as the transition process, and the African voice through the meeting recommendations (11 February) may impact the output of the CCWG, while all the proposal submissions will be done by 15 January for the whole transition process.
In the last ICANN meeting in Los Angeles, the joint AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting addressed the IANA functions stewardship transition. This is another reason for avoiding to do the same for the upcoming Singapore meeting.
Of course, this is simply a proposal. Any other theme that will have the approval of the members will be the one to use.

D’une manière simplifiée, nous pouvons dire que :
· Le Work stream 1 va se focaliser sur les côtés de la redevabilité relatifs à la transition de la suppervision
· Le Work Stream 2 va traiter tous les autres aspects de la redevabilité
Comme vous voyez, la redevabilité de l’ICANN va avoir une partie relative à la transition, et s’il est accepté, le thème couvrira les 2 aspects de la redevabilité.

2. "ICANN Accountability"
3. "Issues around access in Africa, as Internet access is a problem"
4. "ICANN accountability post transition implication - Africa perspective"
5. "Understanding Accountability in ICANN process"
In addition, the following members offered to be part of the drafting team:
1) Seun Ojedeji
2) Janvier Ngnoulaye
3) Beran Gillen
4) Remmy Nweke
We welcome more members to join the team.
We welcome suggestions on the most suitable theme , this should happen
before Wednesday 14 January 2014 after which it will be handed over to
the drafting team to come up with a statement that will be presented
at the Singapore meeting once it has been ratified by the members.

I believe a lot has happened with IANA Stewardship since ICANN 51 in LA and I believe it will help the community to briefly discuss these issues and then further delve into a detailed discussion of Accountability. Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks for participating in the monthly call. The following were
proposed as possible themes for the joint meeting slated for
Singapore:
1. It was agreed that there will be a discussion for a week on
the theme for the meeting in Singapore. AFRALO’s Secretariat will
consolidate comments on this.
The following ideas were proposed as Themes for the AFRALO-AFRICANN
meeting in Singapore.
1. " IANA transition and ICANN accountability seen by the African community'
2. "ICANN Accountability"
3. "Issues around access in Africa, as Internet access is a problem"
4. "ICANN accountability post transition implication - Africa
perspective"
5. "Understanding Accountability in ICANN process"
In addition, the following members offered to be part of the drafting
team:
1) Seun Ojedeji
2) Janvier Ngnoulaye
3) Beran Gillen
4) Remmy Nweke
We welcome more members to join the team.
We welcome suggestions on the most suitable theme , this should happen
before Wednesday 14 January 2014 after which it will be handed over to
the drafting team to come up with a statement that will be presented
at the Singapore meeting once it has been ratified by the members.

Merci beaucoup pour participer à l'appel mensuelle. Ont été proposé
comme thèmes possibles pour la réunion conjointe prévue pour
Singapour:
1. Il a été convenu qu'il y aura une discussion pendant une semaine
sur le thème de la réunion à Singapour. Le Secrétariat de AFRALO
consolidera commentaires à ce sujet.
Les idées suivantes ont été proposées comme thèmes de la réunion
AFRALO-AfrICANN à Singapour.
1. «transition IANA et l'ICANN responsabilisation vu par la communauté
africaine '
2. «La responsabilisation de l'ICANN"
3. "Les questions entourant l'accès en Afrique, que l'accès à Internet
est un problème"
4. «L'ICANN responsabilité après la transition implication -
perspective l'Afrique"
5. «Comprendre la responsabilisation dans processus de l'ICANN"
En outre, les membres suivants ont offert de faire partie de l'équipe
de rédaction:
1) Seun Ojedeji
2) Janvier Ngnoulaye
3) Beran Gillen
4) Remmy Nweke
Nous nous félicitons de plusieurs membres à se joindre à l'équipe.
Nous nous félicitons des suggestions sur le thème le plus approprié,
ce qui devrait se produire avant mercredi 14 Janvier 2014, après quoi
il sera remis à l'équipe de rédaction à venir avec une déclaration qui
sera présentée lors de la réunion de Singapour, une fois qu'il aura
été ratifié par les membres .

Do we have the meeting minutes/outcomes of the joint AFRALO-AfrICANN discussions that took place in Los Angeles, where the IANA functions stewardship transition was discussed? It will really help to know what was discussed and the conclusion that came out of that meeting. That's correct Beran hence the reason why I think we should discuss accountability implications as it relates to the transition bearing in mind that the proposal will be with ICG at that time (according to timeline). So I am also fine with either 1 or 4/mix of both.

I believe a lot has happened with IANA Stewardship since ICANN 51 in LA and I believe it will help the community to briefly discuss these issues and then further delve into a detailed discussion of Accountability. Hence my suggestion to absorb 4 into 1.

Exactly Tijani and WS1 is what I am of the opinion we dwell in at that meeting(with brief talk about overall transition and brief talk about WS2 if time permits) hence the reason why I think just "ICANN Accountability" as a theme does not accurately capture the scope.

Barrack and all,
The ICANN accountability has 2 work streams as I explained on the call.
To make it very simplified, we can say:
· WS1 will focus on accountability issues related to the stewardship transition
· WS2 will address all other aspects of ICANN accountability
As you see, the ICANN accountability will have a part related to the transition, and if accepted, the theme will cover both aspects of accountability.
It was proposed because the accountability mechanisms will shape the new face of ICANN and consequently its governance. It doesn’t have the same deadlines as the transition process, and the African voice through the meeting recommendations (11 February) may impact the output of the CCWG, while all the proposal submissions will be done by 15 January for the whole transition process.
In the last ICANN meeting in Los Angeles, the joint AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting addressed the IANA functions stewardship transition. This is another reason for avoiding to do the same for the upcoming Singapore meeting.
Of course, this is simply a proposal. Any other theme that will have the approval of the members will be the one to use.

La redevabilité (accountability) d’ICANN a 2 canaux de travail (Work Streams) comme j’avais expliqué lors de la téléconférence.
D’une manière simplifiée, nous pouvons dire que :
· Le Work stream 1 va se focaliser sur les côtés de la redevabilité relatifs à la transition de la suppervision
· Le Work Stream 2 va traiter tous les autres aspects de la redevabilité
Comme vous voyez, la redevabilité de l’ICANN va avoir une partie relative à la transition, et s’il est accepté, le thème couvrira les 2 aspects de la redevabilité.
Il a été proposé parce que les mécanismes de redevabilité vont façonner le nouveau visage d’ICANN et par conséquent sa gouvernance. Ce processus n’a pas les mêmes dates limites que celui de la transition, et la voix de l’Afrique peut affecter à travers les recommandations de la réunion (11 Février 2015) les outputs du CCWG, alors que toutes les propositions de tout le processus de transition doivent être soumise le 15 Janvier au plus tard.
A la dernière réunion d’ICANN à Los Angeles, la réunion conjointe AFRALO-AfrICANN avait traité de la transition de la supervision des fonctions de l’IANA. C’est une autre raison pour éviter de faire la même chose pour la prochaine réunion à Singapour.
Bien entendu, ceci n’est qu’une proposition. Tout autre thème qui reçoit le consentement des membres sera celui qu’il faut utiliser.
