By Rodrigo de la Parra, VP, Stakeholder Engagement and Managing Director – Latin America and Caribbean
On behalf of the ICANN Latin American and Caribbean team, welcome to the
ICANN76
Community Forum [r20.rs6.net] in the beautiful city of Cancún, Mexico. You may not realize this, but we last hosted an ICANN Public Meeting in Mexico 14 years
ago for ICANN34 in Mexico City. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic altered our plans for hosting a meeting in Cancún in 2020 and in 2021. I’m pleased to finally welcome you to my country!
ICANN76 offers something for everyone: advancing policy work, conducting outreach, exchanging best practices, negotiating business deals, and interacting with other
members of the ICANN community, Board, and organization (org).
The Community Forum is structured to allow time for the Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees to internally meet and discuss. There also is plenty of
time for cross-community interactions, and plenary sessions on topics of communitywide interest.

stakeholders and for the support of our local host committee.

Previewing the March Board Workshop and ICANN76
|
By Tripti Sinha, ICANN Board Chair
Just last week, the Board passed
[r20.rs6.net]resolutions
[r20.rs6.net] directing ICANN org to develop and launch the WHOIS Disclosure System, and establishing the President and CEO Search Committee, yet we still have
much to do.
We on the Board are eager to engage with the ICANN community to determine the next steps to take in progressing our collective work on initiatives in support of
ICANN’s mission.
For highlights from the workshop agenda, and the ICANN76 sessions I’m most excited for, read my

ICANN Celebrates International Women’s Day With 2 Female Leaders at the Helm

As the world observed International Women’s Day on 8 March, ICANN is celebrating an important milestone: For the first time in its 24-year history, ICANN has two
women in its highest leadership positions.
Tripti Sinha is the second female Board Chair in ICANN’s history. In 1998, Esther Dyson was named as ICANN’s first Board Chairman. Interim President and CEO Sally

Subsequent Procedures: Issues and Next Steps
|
|
We look forward to welcoming the ICANN community to Cancún, Mexico, for the
ICANN76
Community Forum [r20.rs6.net]. For those traveling to attend the meeting in person, here are a few tips to ensure a smooth trip:
·
Transportation:
If you need to travel by car, it’s best to use a car service or authorized taxi. There are taxi stands outside the hotels and restaurants in the Hotel Zone, but it may be
difficult to hail a taxi in the street. The taxis do not use meters, so confirm the fare before departing. You must pay for taxis with cash.
·
Value-Added Tax:
If you are visiting from abroad, you can waive the 16 percent value-added tax on purchases by showing your passport. Be sure to get a passport stamp at the airport immigration
checkpoint upon arrival.
·
Smoking:
As of January 2023, smoking is banned in all public places in Mexico, including sidewalks and beaches.
We recommend that you check with your government’s bureau responsible for international travel for additional information on cultural considerations and local laws
that may be different from your home country. For more ICANN76 travel information and an overview of health and safety measures, visit the
ICANN76
website [r20.rs6.net].
