To follow up on the previous announcement about the review of ALAC Voting Delegates to the NomCom for 2015, staff would like to clarify that AFRALO, APRALO, EURALO, and NARALO nominated one candidate each. 

LACRALO nominated two candidates: 1) Sylvia Herlein Leite and 2) Carlos Dionisio Aguirre. From 04 August to 08 August, LACRALO conducted a prioritization process and Sylvia Herlein Leite is chosen as the first priority. To view the poll result, please kindly review the attachments.

Information regarding the ALAC appointment of ALAC Voting Delegates to the NomCom below:

 

ICANN's Nominating Committee asked the At-Large Advisory Committee to submit a list with ALAC delegates from each of ICANN's five geographic regions. Voting members of the NomCom are appointed for a one year term, starting after the close of the Annual General Meeting 2014 and ending at the close of the Annual General Meeting 2015, and may be re-appointed for a further term of one year subject to the requirement under the ICANN Bylaws

  • XI-2.4.e The ALAC shall, after consultation with each RALO, annually appoint five voting delegates (no two of whom shall be citizens of countries in the same Geographic Region, as defined according to Section 5 of Article VI to the Nominating Committee.

 

In its review, the ALAC may select other members absent from the shortlist provided by RALOs or may choose to appoint the candidates proposed by the RALOs.


The timeline of the ALAC endorsement for the ALAC Voting Delegates to the NomCom for 2015 is:

 

ALAC Review of RALO Candidates: 12 August – 14 August

ALAC Vote: 15 August 00:00 UTC – 19 August 23:59 UTC

ALAC Chair to send results of vote to NomCom Secretariat: 20 August 00:00 UTC or as soon as practicable thereafter
