Dear All, Evan Leibovitch has asked that the following comment be sent on his behalf to explain his reason for abstaining. ***** ALAC Statement on the Draft Advice Letter on Consumer Trust, Consumer Choice, and Competition Date: Wednesday 25 April 2012 06:39 GMT I agree with the statement, however it only serves to re-enforce the analysis that this entire exercise to "measure" consumer choice and trust is so fundamentally flawed as to be useless. In many ways it appears to define after-the-fact "research" intended to justify ICANN policies regarding its gTLD expansion. To ensure a positive outcome, it avoid clarity and any difficult questions that might actually indicate that the actions of ICANN and its partners are actually reducing trust. The expansion of "consumer" to mean both end-users and registrants is an example of this lack of clarity, and invites the sensible criticism conveyed in the ALAC message. ***** You may review the results independently under: https://www.bigpulse.com/pollresults?code=2367a5eVnWPN9nkG38eGwIYr Regards, Heidi Ullrich, Silvia Vivanco, Matt Ashtiani, Gisella Gruber, and Nathalie Peregrine ICANN Policy Staff in support of ALAC E-mail: staff@atlarge.icann.org On 4/24/12 5:10 PM, "ICANN At-Large Staff" <staff@atlarge.icann.org> wrote:
