The Sub Groups completed their work in March 2019. During this same period, the full Working Group met regularly to address issues that the Sub Groups referred to the full Working Group for additional consideration. The full Working Group also reviewed public comments <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> received on the supplemental Initial Report <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> during this period. The supplemental Initial Report covers topics that were not included in the Initial Report and that the Working Group determined required additional consideration. Now that the Sub Groups have completed their first pass review of public comments on the Initial Report, the full Working Group is completing an in-depth analysis <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> to determine how to take into account the comments received and what changes, if any, need to be made to the recommendations contained in the Final Report. Currently, the analysis focuses on comments received concerning overarching issues <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> within the Working Group’s remit: Continuing Subsequent Procedures, Predictability, <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> Clarity of Application Process, Applications Assessed in Rounds, Different TLD Types, Applications Submission Limits, Accreditation Programs (e.g., RSP Pre-Approval). Work Track 5 The public comment <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> period for the Work Track 5 supplemental Initial Report <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> closed on 1 February. This report focuses exclusively on the issue of geographic names at the top level. The report of public comments is available here <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...>. Work Track 5 has been meeting regularly since February to conduct an initial review <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> of comments received. This review was completed in mid-May. NEXT STEPS Full Working Group Once the Working Group has completed analysis of comments received on the overarching issues, it will discuss comments on additional topics that were reviewed by Sub Groups A <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...>, B <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...>, and C <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...>. Work Track 5 Now that Work Track 5 has completed its first pass review of public comments on the Initial Report, Work Track 5 will begin an in-depth analysis <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> to determine how to take into account the comments received and what changes, if any, need to be made to the recommendations on geographic names at the top level. The latest version of the Work Track 5’s work plan is available here <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> . WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? In June 2014, the GNSO Council established a Discussion Group that was intended to evaluate the experiences of the 2012 round gTLD Program and to identify possible areas for future GNSO policy development. The Discussion Group’s deliverables <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> served as the basis for the GNSO Council request for a Preliminary Issue Report in June of 2015. Following the publication of the Final Issue Report <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...>, the GNSO Council adopted the charter <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001MCHgCxjz7cWGcRNAKoLDQ5VaJLQx_sVjC3SPm1Y5kw4Lr...> for the PDP Working Group, which began its work in February 2016. The Working Group initially concentrated on a set of overarching issues. It later conducted deliberations on additional topics in its charter using five separate Work Tracks: Work Track 1 - Overall Process/Support/Outreach, Work Track 2 - Legal/Regulatory, Work Track 3: String Contention/Objections & Disputes, Work Track 4: Internationalized Domain Names/Technical & Operations, Work Track 5: Geographic Names at the Top Level. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? The Discussion Group identified a number of subjects that may require further analysis and possible formulation of policy language. There are existing policy recommendations adopted by the GNSO Council and ICANN Board, which will remain in place unless the PDP WG determines that changes are needed.
