The ICG was established as a result of a broad community consultation and in response to the announcement by the U.S National Telecommunication and Information Administration Department (NTIA) of its intent to transition key Internet domain name functions to the global multistakeholder community. The ICG is composed of representatives from different stakeholders groups to coordinate and deliver a single proposal.
