Interpretation of ATLAS II Summit Recommendation 21
Dear ATLAS2 Thematic Group 3 coordinators, As chair of the Outreach SC, I am seeking clarification from the coordinators of the Thematic Group 3 which was responsible for Recommendation 21 from the ATLAS II Summit Declaration. The Outreach SC, along with the Social Media WG has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of Recommendation 21. Recommendation 21 states: "Encourage public campaigns on using the Internet for education, information, creativity and empowerment." Can the TG expand on the thinking behind this recommendation? Are there examples of existing public campaigns that you think ICANN needs to encourage? There were concerns on how this recommendation could be achieved, given ICANN's remit or how to combine an ICANN message behind any such campaign A question has been prepared for the Global Stakeholder Group ( https://community.icann.org/x/GQDxAg) for the upcoming ICANN meeting in LA as one of the outcomes from the Outreach SC call on Monday Sept 29 2014 after discussing this recommendation. Kind Regards, Dev Anand Teelucksingh Outreach SC
Dear All, Thinking more about this recommendation, it could be that the intent is to for ICANN to be more visible in campaigns like the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) does. Some examples of ITU's campaigns from glancing at ITU's website: https://ideas.itu.int/ http://www.energypact.org/event/cyberspace-energy-development/ https://www.facebook.com/TechNeedsGirls http://www.itu.int/en/action/cybersecurity/Pages/default.aspx Kind Regards, Dev Anand On Wed, Oct 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM, Dev Anand Teelucksingh <devtee@gmail.com> wrote:
