Dear All, On the past few O&E calls, Glenn and myself have presented on the idea of using a blog for O&E. The intent of such a blog is make news about At-Large activities easier to find and share - blog posts can be of any length and contain pictures and videos and viewable on any device (computer, mobile) Once posted, the blog could be configured to automatically post to Twitter and Facebook and could also be emailed to those that prefer such updates in this way. Persons could also use their RSS reader to subscribe to all topics or subsets of topics relevant to their region. Blog posts can also be written in other languages. Other benefits : - At-Large news becomes findable via Internet Search Engines. - Blog posts headlines can also be syndicated to ALSs' websites via RSS The demo site to date is at http://3.95.110.224/ with some sample blog posts to show the concept. Currently, there is no domain but once shown at ICANN64 and if given the go ahead, the next step would be to purchase a suitable domain for the site. Thoughts, comments welcomed. Regards, Dev Anand
Thanks Dev This is an excellent idea. We may need to tinker on how its managed for sustainability, will it be managed by O&A or factored into ICANN support. I am sure the domain will be on .org, however, why can't we integrate this into the "https://atlarge.icann.org/" already existing and just ask for a page for the blog to be linked, especially if its going to be distinct. Weldone. Thanks Remmy. There are a lot of new gTLDs out there so there’s an opportunity for a shorter memorable domain name than say atlargeblog.icann.org (or worse blog.atlarge.icann.org). As to sustainability, I’m thinking it will managed by both community and staff for content. Dev Anand On Fri, 8 Mar 2019 at 4:37 AM, Remmy Nweke <remmyn@gmail.com> wrote:
