Dear ALAC,

as you'll see below, the public comment period for the Preliminary Issue Report on New gTLD Subsequent Procedures, marking the start of the process looking at the first round of new gTLD applications to prepare for a next round, has been released.
There was discussion in the GNSO Council on the length of the comment period. After discussion in our last monthly conference call, I relayed the ALAC's wishes to have a long comment period closing *after* the Dublin meeting so as to allow for discussion in Dublin.

This was not followed, although the next GNSO call might extend this. I shall reiterate the ALAC's wish for a longer public comment period.
