I'm not sure how intimidated others are by Jonathan putting forward his nominations first.  (Unless, of course, they are standing next to him.)  But it's quite possible. 

But I think there is some merit in having the call for nominations go out separately from the Chair's email making his own nominations.  I don't think he needs to wait until the end of the nomination period.   But some seperation seems appropriate.
