Thank you Alan. Just to confirm, I am in agreement with the latest version that has been posted to the WIKI. The Statement itself is not just a set of positions which Alan has had, I believe, also incorporates the line of work which has been defended by the ALAC since the start of the CCWG and, in some cases, the CWG process. Discussions have been possible at each conference call and I certainly did not see opposition to the points which Alan has developed - except with regards to details, on the WIKI.
I would argue that Alan has taken all expressed opinions into account and that we are really now concerned with small details, the majority of which are very unlikely to happen in any case.
Kindest regards,

Olivier

With the help of Olivier, I have revised the document and I hope addressed your concerns. It has been posted to the public comment and I will shortly post both the final version and a redline version to the wiki.

Alan,

My points are very clear, and the minimum that should be done is to reflect both points of view, not saying “the majority believe…”. There are 2 positions, so let’s put them together  (some think …. Others believe….).

Tijani, I am trying my best to reflect a fair statement. My preference would be to make a strong statement that reflects the majority views, but people have felt strongly that all variants need to be presented and I have done what I could to have the statement represent all of those views.

Please suggest wording that will satisfy you, but it cannot be to simply remove the parts you do not agree with. That removes what others feel is appropriate.

We only have 3 hours before the comment period closes.

Thank you Alan,

As you said the discussion was more between you, Seun and myself, and you recognized that no feedback from the rest of our members. You also recognized that Seun mostly had similar position than me. In short, we had 2 similar opinions and another different opinion.

But unfortunately, you didn’t consider any of my remarks in your last version in which you say:” The ALAC believe…, the ALAC consider….etc.” I think that parts of the statement don’t represent the opinion of ALAC. For the CWG statement, you tried to find the middle ground, in this one, you expressed your point of view. I’m sorry for that.

There were two problems. That document should not have been attached. I pointed to the wiki in the e-mail. The document was from an earlier e-mail that I neglected to remove. And the 21 May date was in error, even the first time (although no one noticed).

Alan,

Are you sure the attached version is the last one; it was marked “21 May”.

A revised version of the Comment has been posted incorporating the issues raised in the last day. See https://community.icann.org/x/koU0Aw.

At this point, we are having very few comments made, and those that are largely a debate between Tijani and me (with comments from Seun largely supporting Tijani).

We REALLY need more people to contribute. A statement like this needs to reflect the overall community and not just the views of a few people.
