We do have gender balance in the ALT overall (or as much balance as you can have with 5 people) and that was one of my main targets. Although balance in the V-Cs would be good for optics, it does not really impact the decision process. V-Cs commit to a higher level of work, but all ALT members are treated equally in terms of discussion and decisions (when there are decisions, which is not that often).

In this particular case, both Veronica and Holly had time constraints which prevented them from taking on the extra load, and I am just grateful that they accepted to ALT position at all. Veronica in particular has just taken on a new role at home, one that was not expected when she decided to take on the ALAC Member position, and I was worried it might impact her decision to accept the ALT role. And both Tijani and León have a great history of tireless work on behalf of At-Large and ICANN!

I congratulate all four. I could not be more pleased with the team.

All four candidates were also nominated to be Vice-Chair. Veronica declined the nomination and all three others accepted. In my mind, all three are excellent Vice-Chair candidates who I would happy to have on my team.

Holly has indicated that although she is willing to serve, her preference is to focus on the At-Large Review as she would not have the time to do justice to both simultaneously. I will honor that and hereby name LeÃ³n Sanchez and Tijani Ben Jemaa as ALAC Vice-Chairs for the coming year.
