I understand's Abdulkarim's perspective and that the ALAC position should show regional representation. I understand the nomination process is open to anyone from any of five regions so its up the ALAC members to nominate someone.  I think diversity and gender balance are very important criteria but also is the skills, experience and ability for leadership.  Any volunteer position at ICANN is a sacrifice but the Chair of ALAC is by far the biggest contribution.  Good luck on all the candidates

I believe there should be some level of fairness and balance when it comes to the selection of ALAC chair. We do that when it comes to most appointments and this should not be an exception. 
 The previous chair  before Maureen was from the same region as Jonathan therefore I do not believe It should go back to that region at this time. ALAC chair position is a very powerful position and all regions have competent people. 

 we must carefully think about this and not get emotional. 

I like Jonathan and I have nothing against his person but I believe we need to be balance and fair. 

I hope we give this a consideration.
