Subject: Re: [ALAC] My chat with Goran todayThat sounds like an excellent plan Yrjo? I like the idea of research being carried out in the regions along the lines you suggest. And, including a multistakeholder perspective.. governments, business, technologists, users.
We might need to bring in some experts to ensure that all ethical considerations required for credible research are incorporated, - if we cant find them within our ranks.
🙂👍

Hi Maureen, all
Thank you, very interesting news, especially that about Flexibility Fund. Can't resist putting my thinking cap on:
With that kind of money, ALAC/At Large could afford to back up its policy advice by some solid market research/ surveys in a sample of countries in all regions to find out, what individual Internet end users actually think about some issues within ICANN's remit. There might be a role for ALS'es here, too, in liaising with local research outfits.
My 2 cents.
Best,
Yrjö

Subject: [ALAC] My chat with Goran todayHi all
Brief notes, reporting back after a 45min chat I had with Goran today:
I updated on:* ATLASIII - ATLAS Ambassadors - focus areas - alignment with At-Large Review objectives - program - invitation to the CEO and Board to key events during the ATLAS week* 2020 Organigram - focus on ALT+ and collaboration within RALOs to facilitate effective communication to communities - resource development - building relationships with other sections of the ICANN community (GAC, NCSG) - support from ATLAS Ambassadors for regional communication initiatives
* At-Large Communication strategy - ICANN support for joint ALAC-GAC communication paper to the Board - more support needed to improve understanding of policy issues by non-technical community of At-Large & GAC - hours of volunteer time needed to develop resources - require combined support of the Comms Team, GSE and ICANN Learn for this work.* CPWG developments - Policy platform and talking points - eg Jonathan's latest videos - Olivier's podcasts - eLearning* Request for ICANN Legal advice on the ALS application by "ISOC SIG Rural Development" - check with ISOC
Goran's topics:* ITI is working on improving communication support for ICANN Learn and other areas - we will invite them to demonstrate what they have done, in Montreal.* SubPro and DNS Abuse - the Board would welcome ALAC ADVICE on policy issues
* CCEG IG is to take over the global Legislation and Regulation Tracker - tracks impacts of global L&R activity on ICANN's work. Olivier and Nigel in charge?* Flexibiilty Fund (USD1mil). For any project ideas that would add value to the work of At-Large in your regions - complete application form for consideration by the ALAC Chair - requires signoff by each of the other SO-AC Chairs before it is granted. ICANN Org is putting administration and monitoring mechanisms in place for transparency and accountability - David Olive in charge.
