I also question the value of networking in an online context.  Like Marita, I need breaks from screens. Real networking is the F2F stuff - the give and take of a real conversation over coffee or (after 5) something stronger.  

And bandwidth is not just a south American/African problem.  Someone ask our ALAC chair about bandwidth on Cook Islands!

Another concern is that the meetings stretch over time to cover weeks!  People can take time off for a week or so - but stretching over weeks when particularly AT-Large community members have day jobs as well…...  But yes - starting with a regional hub meeting is positive- and at least people are in roughly the same time zone.

I will definitely be in line once I see an available line forming. But there are sceptics. At some point, will co-vid vaccinations be mandatory for those attending large international meetings?

Also, take steps before, like the use of Zoom meetings vs webinars in the different sessions. I felt particularly uncomfortable in the ALAC - Board session, being a Zoom webinar, this is supposed to be a close meeting.
