An unexpected cost savings to ICANN ...
... for travel subsidies to the next meeting. Apparently a drop in air travel, combined with overcapacity being made worse by new competition from Emirates, Etihad and Delta, is leading to a plummet in the prices of fares to Australia: http://www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2009/04/qantas_taking_a_beating_in_b... - Evan
Great deals in a number of Asian (or Asia connect) airlines as well Thai for example at the moment I suspect we'll all just watch and wait with 'interest' to see what BCD end up getting for sponsored travellers for Sydney... They would have to move fast to get special offers though as I gather those seats go fairly quickly once released... CLO Evan Leibovitch wrote:

Seems a lot of flights are overnight with early morning arrival (6am/7am). Cheryl, this sound right? Worth keeping likely need for early checkins in mind when planning hotels. Even flights from Asia can be long (10 hours non-stop from Tokyo, and among the Asia northern hemisphere members I'm quite close). Looking forward to Sydney: great City. Adam

Yes that is very usual Sydney Airport has a Midnight Curfew so no landings after midnight thus (and because of where we are in the globe ;-) Many flights from OS tend to cluster in at this time... So expect longish lines at Customs and Immigration for that reason as well... and Yes 8-10 hrs is a normal flight time to many places in near Asia, bit closer to Pacific Countries and of course New Zealand is only a short trip I can get there faster than to the Northern Territory or Western Australia...
