Re: [ALAC] At-Large voices in Policy Podcast
Hi Scott thanks for the reply (and I hope there is not too much residual rust ;-) I've copied At-Large staff and our ALAC working list as I'd like to see (at least) two things happen:- 1. the Regions have a listen to and discuss this pilot episode in their upcoming monthly meetings (with a view to a more fulsome discussion at our OneDay meeting on the Sunday at Nairobi where we are looking at ways to better engage 'our public' and 'members'... 2. We all look at what use of volunteers we might be able to organize and other 'work around plans'... Certainly I know the AfRALO, APRALO & LACRALO leadership would be very keen to look at this opportunity to better engage and outreach to local community in the plethora of language we have in our regions and I fully expect EURALO to feel the same though of course there is a greater use of EN as a second language in many of their ALSes... So I expect ofter we 'do a bit of brainstorming' we'll be getting back to you real soon... :-) <copy of original message from Scott pasted here> Hi Cheryl, I thought I'd send you a sneak preview of how the policy podcast is progressing, especially since you kindly facilitated my recording some At-Large voices in Seoul. During January, we will try to produce one more episode of the podcast. We are targeting 1 Feb. for the "Grand Opening" of a new E-Learning page on the ICANN site, and we hope to launch it with three podcast episodes ready to go. Then, we'll add another every month. The E-Learning page will also aggregate webinars and audio briefings; a one-stop shop for learning about ICANN issues via new media. The episode with the new opening is too large to email, but you can download it from my 4shared account: http://www.4shared.com/file/176082994/e98c4fe5/Start_Ep01.html Hope you like it -- and thanks again for At-Large's contribution! -- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hi Cheryl! I apologize for the long lag time in responding. The holidays were all it took to lock my brain in a crust of rust.
Last question first: The episode has been approved by Dave P and Denise, so there is no harm in showing it to anyone you want.
Re: translation. Yes, I very much would like to have ICANN Start in other languages. We are in a budget crunch until June, so I have no funding for translating and re-recording the podcast. If you (and the At-Large community) can suggest workarounds that depend on volunteer labor but still maintain quality you would be comfortable with, I'm all ears!

Thanks SOOOO Much for this Scott :-) I find this extremely exciting and useful It's literally helping me see where we could (and of course) should go in our ICANN Outreach and better equipping our ALSes and their members to be better briefing on these normally rather complex matters as a Light ( as opposed to the oncoming train) at the end of the tunnel) and I'm sure our At-Large Community will also :-) And we do appreciate the multilingual new start and your thanks to our community members who aided you ;-) Now ON this thorny matter of multilingualism are you looking towards "syndication of these" gems for "reproduction into other "voices" as that is something I think our various local language communities ( via our RALO's and ALSes) as outreach tools then I'm sure we would be very interested in discussing all this so that our more global needs can be proactively met... So we can be "ICANN One World, One Internet, Everyone Connected (in Many Voices)" ;-) and of course if our voices are used it should come cheaper than other options and gain interest ownership and usage / promulgation of these excellent tools :-)
Final matter when can we leak this out to our community :-)
