Dear ALAC Colleagues, This is my monthly meeting report, sent ahead of our upcoming session. I am pleased to confirm that our bilateral meeting with the GAC for ICANN 81 will focus on WSIS+20. This theme provides a timely opportunity to reflect on the progress made since the original WSIS commitments, address ongoing challenges such as cybersecurity and the digital divide, and strengthen multistakeholder collaboration. It will also allow us to define future priorities, with an emphasis on the roles of both GAC and ALAC in the WSIS+20 agenda. I am delighted to confirm that Amrita Choudhury and Marita Moll have kindly agreed to serve as topic leads for this session and will support the discussion with their interventions on behalf of the At-Large. Additionally, following up on our joint ALAC/GAC session proposal, "Shifting Paradigms: Multistakeholderism, Geopolitics, International Law, and New Internet Infrastructures," which has been selected as a plenary session for ICANN 81, I am pleased to announce that cross-community working meetings will begin shortly. This session will focus on the evolving multistakeholder model, examining its intersections with geopolitics, international law, and emerging internet infrastructures. To facilitate preparations, Carlos Reyes will be initiating the working group calls in the coming days. These two sessions complement each other—while WSIS+20 offers a broad review of internet governance achievements, the cross community plenary will focus on the impact of new infrastructures and regulatory shifts. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to the call later today. Best regards, Joanna Kulesza ALAC Liaison to the GAC
Dear ALAC Colleagues, This is my monthly meeting report, sent ahead of our upcoming session. I am pleased to inform you that both our bilateral meeting with the GAC for ICANN 81, focusing on WSIS+20, and our joint ALAC/GAC session proposal on "Shifting Paradigms" are actively unfolding, albeit with some notable updates. The GAC bilateral meeting will not only address WSIS+20 but will also cover DNS abuse with Jonathan Zuck leading the discussion on behalf of the At-Large community. GAC speaker is yet to be named. Meanwhile, Amrita Choudhury and Marita Moll will continue to serve as topic leads for the WSIS+20 segment with Nigel Hickson presenting the GAC perspective. On the other hand, the "Shifting Paradigms" session is undergoing significant changes, departing from its original focus. As the session evolves, we are seeing a shift in its thematic structure, although it will still address the intersections of multistakeholderism and geopolitics. You can review the current changes here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hi_94oqkk71uCuueUp9MfLkkfJ82RKN31-A11xP8.... I will keep you update about progress. I have added my updates to the relevant wiki pages for your kind reference https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/GAC+Liaison+Reports. Lastly, I would like to offer my tentative apologies for tonight's call, as my availability during the session remains uncertain. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to our continued collaboration.
