Dear All,
Please see below the call for nominations for members of the 2015 ALAC
Leadership Team (ALT) sent on behalf of Olivier Crépin-Leblond, Chair of
the ALAC.
===========================================
ALAC LEADERSHIP TEAM
Now that it is decided that the incoming Chair will be from the North
American Region, the ALAC Chair, Olivier Crépin-Leblond, has requested that
a call for nominations be issued for the other four members of the ALAC
Leadership team (ALT) from the four remaining regions:
· Africa
· Asia, Australasia and Pacific Islands
· Europe
· Latin America and Caribbean Islands
Nominations are now open for individuals to serve as the two Vice-Chairs
of the ALAC and the two non-titled ALT positions. Nominations may be made
by any ALAC Member. Nominees need not be an ALAC Member at the time of the
nominations, but must have an expectation of being an ALAC Member after the
completion of the upcoming Los Angeles ICANN Meeting.
Requirements for ALT members can be found in Section 6 of the ALAC Rules
of Procedure (http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-2013-04).
Nominations will close on Friday, 19 September 2014 at 23:59 UTC.
Nominations need not be seconded, but it is an ALAC tradition that others
may second the nomination as a show of agreement with the nomination.
Nominations other than self-nominations must be accepted within seven days
after the close of nominations. Acceptance should be sent to the
alac@atlarge-lists.icann.org<mailto:alac@atlarge-lists.icann.org<mailto:alac@atlarge-lists.icann.org%3cmailto:alac@atlarge-lists.icann.org>>.
Nominees without access to that list should send their acceptance to
staff@atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org%3cmailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>>. Staff will
forward all acceptances to ALAC-Announce@atlarge-lists.icann.rog<mailto<mailto:ALAC-Announce@atlarge-lists.icann.rog%3cmailto>:
ALAC-Announce@atlarge-lists.icann.rog<mailto:ALAC-Announce@atlarge-lists.icann.rog>>.
Following the close of the nominations period and the acceptance or
rejection of all nominations, candidates from regions where the position is
not contested will be declared to win by acclamation.
If there are multiple candidates from any region, the candidates, in
conjunction with the ALAC, will be given the opportunity to resolve the
situation. Failing that, an secret vote of the ALAC will decide the winner.
If the resultant ALT includes two members nominated to be Vice-Chairs,
those two will serve in those positions. If are less than two or more than
two nominated as Vice-Chairs, the incoming ALAC Chair will decide who will
occupy the Vice-Chair positions.

Dear All, Thank you for all those who have put their faith in nominating and supporting me for the AP position. It humbles me that if it comes to a vote, I would be running against Holly for the AP ALT spot. I say this as I genuinly admire Holly's work, and I would be filling the shoes of a very capable person. I wholeheartedly appreciate how much she has given to this process, however like others, I believe that in the process of allowing new blood to take up these kinds of roles can only help the process, by allowing the development of fresh ideas that will inevitably allow our voices to be better heard. My congratulations go out to Maureen Hilyard, Julie Hammer and Murray McKercher for their respective posts as liaisons. As Alan has now been confirmed, and we have all unanimously congratulated him, I would also like to add my support to Cheryl for the role of GNSO, and nominate the following ALAC members for the ALAC Leadership Team (ALT) positions: Africa: Tijani Ben Jemaa for ALT Vice-Chair Latin America and Caribbean: León Felipe Sánchez Europe: Olivier Crépin-Leblond for ALT Vice-Chair Kindest Regards to you all, Raf Rafid A Y Fatani Eng. Dear all I would like to support the nomination of Tijani as ALT representative for the Africa region, Leon Sanchez for the LAC Region, Raf Fatani for the AP region and Olivier for the European region.
