(IANA Issues) Fwd: monitoring of other mailing lists // volunteers needed
Dear ALAC & At-Large members, as you know, our IANA Issues WG is supporting the ALAC's two representatives on the IANA Coordination Group which will collect plans from operational communities to transition the role of the stewardship of IANA from the US Government. This was one of the hottest topics at last week's Internet Governance Forum in Istanbul. Our IANA Issues WG has been active mostly to support our representatives and to reach consensus on ALAC input for the charter of the coordination group as well as its request for proposals. The work is now migrating to the operations communities of IANA functions: 1. IETF for Protocols 2. Regional Internet Registries (all 5 of them) for the IP addresses 3. ICANN's community for the names In (3), a cross community working group will soon open up. The charter is ready and will be voted on shortly by all Supporting Organisations & Advisory Committees. However, with work starting in (1) and (2), the At-Large IANA Issues WG does not have enough volunteers to take part in discussions in those fora. Individuals participating in those fora would not be At-Large representatives and would instead be acting in their own individual capacity, as per the rules of these mailing lists. However, I am hoping that if we have volunteers from our community participating in these external processes, they will be able to relate back to us on a regular basis and will focus heavily on taking input and advice from our community. Please be so kind to let staff and I know if you would like to volunteer. This is a critical process at the moment and is limited in both scope and time. (1 year max) Kindest regards, Olivier -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: monitoring of other mailing lists // volunteers needed Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2014 12:40:19 +0200 From: Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond <ocl@gih.com> To: iana-issues@atlarge-lists.icann.org <iana-issues@atlarge-lists.icann.org> Hello all, as you know, now that the Charter's on its way to proceed forward, the work is now shifting into the respective mailing lists of each region and operational community. We therefore need more volunteers to each subscribe to each of the mailing lists. At present, I am worried that not enough of us are active on any of these external mailing lists. as a result, we are likely to have very little impact on the final proposals. Mailing lists currently engaged in the discussions Members of the At-Large Ad-Hoc WG on the transition of US government stewardship of the IANA function are encouraged to take part and defend the interests of the Internet end user in the following discussions and fora: Mailing lists Member Region https://mm.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/ianatransition - ICANN-wide discussion Alberto Soto LACRALO https://www.iab.org/mailman/listinfo/internetgovtech - IAB discussion (within IETF) Alberto Soto/ Avri Doria LACRALO/NARALO https://elists.isoc.org/mailman/listinfo/ianaxfer - Internet Sociery (ISOC) discussion Alberto Soto LACRALO RIR Lists https://lists.afrinic.net/mailman/listinfo.cgi/ianaoversight - AFRINIC IANA Oversight Tijani BEN JEMAA/Alberto Soto AFRALO/LACRALO APNIC IANA Oversight <http://conference.apnic.net/38/program> Yasuichi Kitamura/Alberto Soto/ Cheryl Langdon-Orr APRALO/LACRALO/APRALO ARIN PPML <http://lists.arin.net/mailman/listinfo/arin-ppml> Gordon Chillcott/Alberto Soto NARALO/LACRALO https://mail.lacnic.net/mailman/listinfo/internet-gov - LACNIC IANA Oversight Fatima Cambronero/Alberto Soto /LACRALO RIPE IANA Oversight <http://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/wg-lists/cooperation> Olivier Crépin-Leblond EURALO I look forward to your volunteering.
