Not as far as I'm concerned, rather that ICANN travel arrangements need to be made ASAP if we are to get the GA on the  9th  (Saturday)   though a fall  back position could be the 11 th but as that is the first opportunity for a APRALO <-> ALAC meeting  we would need to split the day and attempt *both* activities  -> not my preferred option at all...  See the *VERY preliminary *  Delhi Meetings Schedule  for the At-Large Community at https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?new_delhi_meeting

Does that mean we do the GA on the 11th instead of trying for the 7th or 8th?

All the more reason we must have ICANN book our travel arrangements as soon as possible as also Raj has pointed out that this time of year is horrendously busy in India as well...

Naturally we will have remote attendance options as well but as this is the much delayed 'inaugural event for APRALO' with our signing etc., etc.,  we really should have maximum participation facilitated in any way possible by ICANN... In my opinion, at least...

Nick it might be important to let the ICANN travel staff  know as soon as possible, about these other , competing interests for travel to this meeting effecting us in this region, so they can be forewarned and I assume find best ways to solve potential problems * early*  ( you may now count this email as today's rant to you from CLO regarding ICANN meeting arrangements ;-) so please pass it on to those who need to know...

You are right. And thanks for your comment. It will be tough for us to get the flight ticket too (it will be very crowded at Taipei airport).

Thanks for your information. As you might know, Feb. 7 is Chinese New Year. The holiday is from 2/6~11. I will try to find out who can join the meeting.

Oh no, I didn't realize the Chinese New Year crashes with
ICANN meeting. This may impose travel restrictions, too,
unless we book the flight early enough.

For those who are outside Asia, Chinese New Year is
equal to or perhaps bigger than the Christmas, many
overseas Chinese people visit their home or family re-union
across the region and beyond.

(The Japanese new year is same as the calender year,
and many also go to overseas for holiday tour, but most of
the family re-union take place within the country unlike
Chinese).

Colleagues,

It has been suggested that APRALO hold its General Assembly on Saturday
February 9th 2008 to allow the ALAC and Secretariats to meet on the 10th.

ICANN will arrange 1 delegate per ALS to attend the meeting. As such, I
would like your comments on whether this would suit you, as it does mean
arriving a bit earlier than you normally would - probably on the 7th or
8th, depending on your point of origin and flight availability.

The other option is to hold the GA on Monday 11th, but this has some
potential conflict with another ALAC meeting.

I would appreciate your comments by Friday 7th December to enable the
planning and logistics to proceed in a timely manner.
