Brief About the Session In March 2014, the US Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced its intention to transition the stewardship of the IANA functions to the Internet community. Discussion on how this transition will take place has captured the imaginations of many in the Internet community worldwide as an assembled Coordination Group of global experts now seeks to guide the development of a transition plan. In some quarters, the transition has been branded as "handing over control of the Internet". But in reality, what exactly is being transferred, and what does this all mean?
