Net4India operation closed
As per media reports, Net4india Indi's largest registrar has closed its operations and may file bankruptcy. Now customers having domain names registered with them want to transfer them out. Customers are able to transfer authorization code from the admin panel but net 4 India has locked the domains (client transfer prohibited) and there is no option of unlocking. Several emails to customer support gone unanswered. Several customers are facing similar issues. Curious to know what role ICANN can play in it RegardsRahul
Rahul , yes as the company has gone to NCLT courts due to bankruptcy, the Net4 shutdown has created a huge issue from many domain name holders. While I do not know what ICANN is doing for it (off course ICANN org must do something), however if it is dot in domain please contact NIXI ( GM NIXI Shubham Saran shubham@nixi.in) . NIXI is trying to address the issue of the ccTLDs. Regards, Amrita On Sat, 3 Oct 2020 at 13:38, Rahul Srivastava via APAC-Discuss < apac-discuss@atlarge-lists.icann.org> wrote:

There are 2 ways, If registrar voluntary shutting down business, they generally hand over the domains to a new registrar. But in some cases, if registrar shut business, ICANN take control over the domain names and Invites other registrars to take over the domains. Based on Major customer base location of closed registrar ICANN choose to transfer the domains to new registrar. In such transitions, gaining registrar verify ownership of domains via whois information available to them. Its always suggested to have genuine whois information in domain so that in any such case or in other matters also, you can comfortable able to use your domain.
