Dear Hong, This looks like an interesting proposal, thanks! I'm a member of the IGF advisory group and have some information that might help you. We realized that completing all the information in the workshop proposal questionnaire by the April 30 deadline would quite difficult, so for April 30 it's only necessary to answer questions 1, 2, 4 and 9. If you can answer more, then please do, but the basic questions are: 1. Name of proposed workshop 2. Provide a concise description of the proposed workshop theme including its importance and relevance to the IGF. 4. Provide the name of the organizer(s) of the workshop and their affiliation to various stakeholder groups. Describe how you will take steps to adhere to the multi-stakeholder principle, geographical diversity and gender balance. 9. Under which of the five IGF themes does the proposal fall under ? (access, critical Internet resources, diversity, openness, security) Question 2 requires a description of the workshop in about 100- 200 words, then list up the names of organizations you would like to invite. IGF workshops should try to present a range of points of view on an issue. It's important to make sure a broad range of interests are represented. People perhaps able to help could be Raj Singh, now with ISOC and of course very familiar with APRALO. Theresa Swinehart, Global Partnerships. I think Theresa might be coordinating ICANN's efforts in Hyderabad (and if not she's anyway a member of the IGF advisory group so I expect would be helpful.) Milton Mueller is working on a related proposal you might be interested to see <http://lists.cpsr.org/lists/arc/governance/2008-04/msg00424.html> No overlap with what you're proposing. And best to make sure you don't overlap or you may be asked to combine your proposals. And... last, about the proposal itself (and this is my personal opinion, nothing to do with the advisory group). Given that most international policy processes are conducted in English (of course some have interpretation etc, but the default tends to be English) the idea of looking at multilingual services and multilingual policy-making is very interesting. And very important to users.
