Dear All, The online election for the open APRALO Vice Chair positions has started and will remain open until Monday, 3 May 2010 at 23:59 UTC. All registered ALS representatives should have received a personal email with their voting credentials a couple of minutes ago. Please contact staff under staff@atlarge.icann.org if you have not received them. Attached below you find a list with all eligible APRALO ALS representatives. There are three candidates for the two open Vice Chair positions: Les Allison Fouad Bajwa Sivasubramanian Muthusamy (Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by family name.) You will be asked to indicate your preference for each of the candidates for the two currently open APRALO Vice Chair positions by clicking on the box to the left of each name. The order of preference is from most preferred (your first click), to your lowest preference (the last clicked). You must indicate a preference for each candidate for your vote to be valid. The candidate with the highest preference will be appointed for a two-year term. The candidate with the second highest preference will be appointed for the remainder of Mahmoud Lattouf's term which ends in March 2011. Voting Method: The online election uses the single transferable voting method (STI). This voting method is based on multiple rounds of voting whereas the candidate with the least preferences is taken off the ballot after each round. The preferences from voters having voted for the candidate with the least preference will automatically be transferred over to the remaining candidates. Voters only have to cast their preferences once. Example: Candidate A Candidate B Candidate C Let's assume there is a total of 13 voters. After the first round, both candidates A and B have 5 first preferences while the three voters X, Y and Z gave their first preference to candidate C. It follows that candidate C is taken off the ballot and the second preferences from voters X,Y and Z are redistributed among the remaining candidates. Voter X: 1st preference C, 2nd preference B Voter Y: 1st preference C, 2nd preference B Voter Z: 1st preference C, 2nd preference A Candidate B will get another two votes in the second round from voters X,Y.. Candidate A only receives one additional vote from voter Z. It follows that Candidate B is elected in round two. However, in order allow for individual reminders to be sent out, it is possible for Staff to identify who has cast his or her vote.
