PRESS RELEASE Signing Ceremony of MoU Between BIGF & ISOCbd Dhaka, February 24, 2025: Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) and Internet Society Bangladesh Chapter (ISOCbd) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on Internet governance, digital development, and emerging technologies in Bangladesh. The signing ceremony took place on February 24, 2025, with key representatives from both organizations present. The MoU was signed by Mohammad Aminul Hakim, Chairperson of Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum, on behalf of BIGF, and Dr. Md. Nadir Bin Ali, President of Internet Society Bangladesh Chapter, on behalf of ISOCbd. The event was witnessed by Advocate Abdullah Al Noman, Vice Chairperson, BIGF; Mohammad Abdul Haque, Secretary-General, BIGF; and Md Barkatul Alam, General Secretary, ISOCbd. Scope of Collaboration Under this agreement, both organizations will work together to. Implement IGF initiatives in Bangladesh. Foster digital development and a digital ecosystem aligned with digital transformation, inclusion, responsibility, and sustainability. Ensure Internet governance to prevent Internet fragmentation. Strengthen data protection, data sharing, and privacy mechanisms. Promote innovation, open data, big data, and data-driven decision-making for public benefit. Nadir Bin Ali, President of Internet Society Bangladesh Chapter, on behalf of ISOCbd. The event was witnessed by Advocate Abdullah Al Noman, Vice Chairperson, BIGF; Mohammad Abdul Haque, Secretary-General, BIGF; and Md Barkatul Alam, General Secretary, ISOCbd.
Scope of Collaboration Under this agreement, both organizations will work together to. Implement IGF initiatives in Bangladesh. Foster digital development and a digital ecosystem aligned with digital transformation, inclusion, responsibility, and sustainability. Ensure Internet governance to prevent Internet fragmentation. Strengthen data protection, data sharing, and privacy mechanisms. Promote innovation, open data, big data, and data-driven decision-making for public benefit. Uphold human rights in the digital space. Enhance digital security to prevent discrimination and the spread of misinformation. Regulate artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies responsibly. Advocate for the digital commons as a global public good. Support progress on the UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) action lines, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Global Digital Compact, and other national and international development initiatives. Assign focal points from both organizations to ensure effective collaboration under this MoU.
