Hi APRALO community, In response to this Open Call, I submitted the following statement for the position of ALAC delegate to NomCom: I am associated with Internet since early nineties, as a user and a technical person. I did my Masters and PhD from France, and also worked as a researcher at the renowned lab: INRIA Rocquencourt, France. It always gives me a refreshing feeling when I see myself as part of a large connected community! I am ICANN Fellowship alumni, and got involved into ICANN activities since 2012, through the local ISOC Chapter. I am currently the Chair Executive Council of ISOC Islamabad Chapter, which is one of the registered ALS in ICANN/APRALO. I am quite much involved in capacity building activities (IPv6, DNSSEC, etc.) with ISOC, APNIC and ICANN's Middle-East regional team, and conducted numerous training workshops, informational seminars and general awareness talks on ICANN's activities and policy, APNIC's technical stuff and ISOC's Internet Governance theme. Being a professor and researcher at a university, I enjoy working on networking protocols (I am also a co-author of the RFC 3626), and often involve my students to build working solutions for various societal issues. In this regard, I lead many funded R&D projects in the domain of wired and wireless networks for social applications, funded by ISOC USA, Govt of France in ICT-Asia program and also in PHC program, Govt of Pakistan through its ICT R&D Fund, and by the local industry too. I am also serving since 2011 as the Chair IEEE Computer Society Islamabad Chapter, and since 2007 as the Founding Director, Center of Research in Networks and Telecom (CoReNeT - www.corenet.org.pk). Being a French alumni, I am also the founding member of the Board of Directors and the Vice-President of Pak-France Alumni Network (PFAN - www.pfan.org.pk). With my technical and research experience, active involvement in Internet organizations and associations, a large connected circle of friends, colleagues and students, and a strong motivation and enthusiasm to serve the community, I feel that I can contribute in ICANN as a NomCom member from APRALO. I am associated with Internet since early nineties, as a user and a technical person. I am ICANN Fellowship alumni, and got involved into ICANN activities since 2012, through the local ISOC Chapter. In this regard, I lead many funded R&D projects in the domain of wired and wireless networks for social applications, funded by ISOC USA, Govt of France in ICT-Asia program and also in PHC program, Govt of Pakistan through its ICT R&D Fund, and by the local industry too. I am also serving since 2011 as the Chair IEEE Computer Society Islamabad Chapter, and since 2007 as the Founding Director, Center of Research in Networks and Telecom (CoReNeT - www.corenet.org.pk). Dear APRALO members, We now have two APRALO candidates, Dr Amir Qayyum and me. Further details are at: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/2015+ALAC+and+RALO+Elections%2C+... I was nominated by Cheryl Langdon-Orr at the last APRALO meeting on 21st April. Here is my background to explain why I believe I can contribute as an ALAC voting delegate to the NomCom. I have been active in the global Internet community for over 15 years with participation in the Internet Society, globally, regionally and nationally and through this to ICANN and the IGF. My professional life started with library and information management qualifications in Australia before heading to Europe where I led and participated in projects at the Telematics and Disability Centre of Telia (Swedish Telecom) and European Union-funded projects such as COST 219 and CARDIAC. I have researched and written policy on accessibility to information and communications technologies for the past 25 years. I am a Director of the Internet Society of Australia since 2000 and a member of the Pacific Islands Chapter of the Internet Society since 2008. I have been successful in applying for ISOC Community Grants workshops that have been delivered in Sri Lanka for Chapter Leaders and in Pacific Island countries as part of annual Pacific INETs. I was the inaugural Australian IGF ambassador (2013) and before and since that time, have succeeded in proposing workshops and organising speakers for national, regional and global IGFs. I am currently a member of the APrIGF Multistakeholder Steering Group. I am a member of ICANN’s APRALO, the At-Large Accessibility Taskforce and the Technology Taskforce and was Assistant Moderator at ATLAS II’s Thematic Group 3. I was selected in 2013 to be part of the inaugural At-Large Mentor Program. I am Principal of GSA InfoComm and a Fellow of the RSA, 21st enlightenment. I am an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems at Griffith University and have taught Information Policy and Governance to postgraduate students in Griffith University’s Department of International Business and Asian Studies. I contribute to the Internet community through writing Issues Papers and award-winning articles, organising capacity-building workshops and speaking at Internet and telecommunications conferences and events throughout the world. In 2012, I was invited to join ISOC’s NomCom to identify and select candidates for the Board of Trustees. All these activities have given me the opportunity of building a large network of colleagues globally in technical, legal, social and academic circles. Conditions:
· ALAC: Les mandats pour l'ALAC se dérouleront à partir de la fin de l'AGA 2015 jusqu'à la fin de l'AGA 2017.
· Délégués ALAC au NomCom: Les membres votants du NomCom sont nommés pour un mandat d'un an, à partir de l'AGA 2015 et se terminant à la fin de l'AGA de 2016 et peuvent être réélus pour un nouveau mandat d'un an sous réserve des exigence en vertu des statuts de l'ICANN.
Calendrier de la Sélection pour les membres de l'ALAC et Délégués ALAC au NomCom:
- 30 avril - Annonce de l'appel à candidatures et la déclaration du candidat *. - 30 avril - 9 mai - Période de nomination (nominations acceptées pour 10 jours ouvrables). - 16 mai - Date limite pour les acceptation de candidature - 18 mai au 25 mai 2015 - Élections (si nécessaires, les élections commenceront au plus tard une semaine après la date limite d'acceptation des candidatures et se terminera au plus tard deux semaines après ce délai).
- 2015 AGA [ICANN 54] - Les représentants de l'ALAC élus prendront place sur l'ALAC à l'issue de lAssemblée Générale Annuelle le jeudi 22 octobre 2015.

Processus pour Nominations:
Tous les candidats doivent soumettre une déclaration brève au personnel At-Large (staff@atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>) qui explique pourquoi ils pensent être un candidat approprié. Posiciones abiertas:

· ALAC: Plazos para las posiciones del ALAC empezaran desde el final del AGM del 2015 hasta el final del AGM del 2017.
