After reading the mails of Ali AlMeshal on this subject, my choice called for thinking. Hi All I would like to nominate Amrita Choudhury for the ALAC position from the APRALO region. Amrita brings nearly two decades of active engagement within the ICANN and broader Internet governance ecosystem. Her recent recognition as the 2026 ICANN Community Excellence Award reflects her sustained contributions to consensus-driven policymaking and her strong commitment to the multistakeholder model. She has been deeply involved in the At-Large policy development process, with contributions that stand out in both consistency and substance. Her work demonstrates a strong understanding of policy issues and a genuine commitment to representing end-user interests. In many cases, her level of engagement within At-Large has been exemplary compared to others. As Chair of APRALO and APrIGF, Amrita has demonstrated effective and inclusive leadership. Her broader experience including involvement in the IANA stewardship transition, the ICANN NomCom, and multiple At-Large initiatives, positions her well to contribute meaningfully at the ALAC level. She was also among the most actively engaged members of the APRALO community in the recent ICP2/RIR governance discussions at APNIC/APRICOT sessions, reflecting her ability to engage with complex governance issues. Amrita brings nearly two decades of active engagement within the ICANN and broader Internet governance ecosystem. Her recent recognition as the 2026 ICANN Community Excellence Award reflects her sustained contributions to consensus-driven policymaking and her strong commitment to the multistakeholder model.
She has been deeply involved in the At-Large policy development process, with contributions that stand out in both consistency and substance. Her work demonstrates a strong understanding of policy issues and a genuine commitment to representing end-user interests. In many cases, her level of engagement within At-Large has been exemplary compared to others.
As Chair of APRALO and APrIGF, Amrita has demonstrated effective and inclusive leadership. Her broader experience including involvement in the IANA stewardship transition, the ICANN NomCom, and multiple At-Large initiatives, positions her well to contribute meaningfully at the ALAC level. She was also among the most actively engaged members of the APRALO community in the recent ICP2/RIR governance discussions at APNIC/APRICOT sessions, reflecting her ability to engage with complex governance issues.
It is extremely important to create opportunities for capable individuals who bring the right skills, a strong community focus, and have not yet had the opportunity to serve on ALAC. Amrita brings both experience and a strong community perspective, which will further strengthen APRALO’s representation.
While I do not claim to speak on behalf of the technical community in the APAC region but I can assure you all that Amrita would be widely recognised as a true representative of their perspectives within ALAC from the AP region. I strongly support her nomination and believe she will be a valuable addition to ALAC.
