Report of Workshop 7 on Rights Based and Gender Inclusion [APrIGF]
Dear All, This is to advise you that I participated in Workshop 7 as a remote Panelist on a Workshop titled : *Towards a dynamic and active Asia Pacific Internet Governance rights-based space with gender perspective* The Workshop was convened by Lisa Garcia, Foundation for Media Alternatives, Philippinnes. Panelists were: - Dr. Anja Kovacs <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Anja>, Director, Internet Democracy Project, India - Ms. Noelle de Guzman <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Noelle>, Regional Programmes Coordinator, Internet Society Asia-Pacific - Ms. Naomi Fontanos <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Naomi>, Executive Director, Gender and Development Advocates Filipinas (GANDA Filipinas) - Ms. Nica Dumlao <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Nica>, Internet Rights Coordinator, Foundation for Media Alternatives, Philippines - Mr. Arthit Suriyawongkul <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Arthit>, Coordinator, Thai Netizen Network *(Remote)* - Ms. Salanieta Tamanikaiwaimaro <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Sala> , Director, Pasifika Nexus *(Remote)* - Mr. Shahzad Ahmad <http://2014.rigf.asia/speakers/#Shahzad>, Country Director, Bytes for All *(Remote)* We had a very good mix of Panelists who spoke on various issues related to gender and Rights based approach. I enclose the presentation I made.There was discussions on the following: - Government control and its impact on vulnerable communities - Corporate control and its impact on vulnerable communities - Impact of laws against sex workers online - Policy needs to be Gender Inclusive - The need to develop Gender metrics in policy development - Greater networking - There was also case studies from Thailand and Pakistan.
