However my question points to a step in the application process as opposed to the further clarification requested in evaluating an (incomplete?) application, which is what appears to have happened with Buddha. The current mechanism is a self-declaration by the applicant. We have been finding that this doesn't always work. As you have pointed out, it is not always easy to keep track of the affiliations of organizations that a person is a member of. We will consider revising the wording or providing an example.

Thanks Justine. There is a due diligence process for all applications, ALS or individual member. However, for individual members, we tend to go ahead based on the self-declaration in order to make it a light-weight process. As discussed in the GA, we will shortly be framing rules for all aspects of individual membership.
