Yannis, your suggestion for souvenirs, can you give estimated price for this and if possible can you send a picture to have an idea? Any other ideas for souvenirs to participants?? - please, if you have suggestions, provide with details, price, picture and/or potential sponsors whom you think we can apply for funding. Any ALS would like to give out something special??? - bring your ideas here and we will compile, summarise and provide the final feedback. We are ALL ONE TEAM - APRALO, so, let's once again prove and show to the whole world that by CELEBRATING DIVERSITY we want to show how united we are!!! Best Siranush

Awesome discussions.. I'm already starting to envisage something fantastic.. as per usual, APRALO team :)
The Dikir Barat sounds interesting - I checked it out on wikipaedia - a group singing competition? Involving children would be different.. how long would a performance last, Kuek? Rinalia?

HI Everyone
Just to get everyone's head around doing all this again!
The showcase in Singapore was terrific - so we have to keep up the standard.
First: Kelvin/Kuek - anyone. We have done the fans and the Lion Dance. Other suggestions?
And we had that session that was really informative on tea - maybe a tea ceremony - after all we are in the Asian region (or remember, Raffles High Tea?). Or do we want something from elsewhere in the whole vast APRALO region? (knowing that whatever we do, it has to be available in Singapore)
and Maureen - do we still have Emani's stuff - maybe we can update it??
And speeches - can we keep them down to three - Alan, Fadi and Steve. By the end of the day, people have had enough of talking and want entertainment and networking.

I will make appropriate changes in the agenda as well.
Just a brief summary: We are planning to have the following items as promo materials/takeaways: 1. Lanyards for all participants 2. Silk Fans for all participants 3. APRALO booklet with ALSs info for all participants 4. Power Adapters for all participants 5. Prizes for quiz winners - 5 bluetooth portable keyboards
For show we plan to have: 1. To start with - face mask changing show 2. To end with - Lion dance show
And in addition we have catering for 100 people, with good number of canapes and soft drinks.
After covering all expenses we have additional about 400 USD to be used. Do you have any suggestions how else we can use them? We decided not to have pins, as they are somehow useless after the event (people used not to keep them).
We have an option for using those 400$ for champagne - though not sure how much will they cost and how many we can order with this amount (Silvia, can you, please, check this). We have another option to keep those money for APRALO General Assembly, which we are planning to have in London.
So, any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you all for a great team work. Best

Just to let you all know that I have discussed with Philadel the option with having Lion dance also at the start, but he recommended something else, which I think is quite interesting ( performance option called "face-changing" with the vendor for the start of the showcase: This includes a performer dancing while changing a series of masks rapidly, almost like a magic trick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bian_lian).
Philadel is now exploring the prices and other details and once the vendor gets back to him, he will send us the information.
Thank you.

Dear all,
I have sent some clarifications to Silvia, related to the surplus (to my memory we shouldn't have that much (to me we should have 921, 94USD$), but at least we have now good surplus to start the Showcase with Lion Dance.
Let me check first the amount and then ask Philadel to check how much will be ordering of two Lion Dances (at the beginning and at the end).
But I am all for using surplus for an amazing Lion dance to start the Singapore showcase
Thanks

Dear all,
I have sent some clarifications to Silvia, related to the surplus (to my memory we shouldn't have that much (to me we should have 921, 94USD$), but at least we have now good surplus to start the Showcase with Lion Dance.
Let me check first the amount and then ask Philadel to check how much will be ordering of two Lion Dances (at the beginning and at the end).
But I am all for using surplus for an amazing Lion dance to start the Singapore showcase
Thanks

This is to let you know that we agreed to start the Showcase with The face mask changing show, and as Philadel confirmed, the master is from China and the performance is about 8 mins. The cost is SGD$650 or USD514.88 according to today's rates.
Best
Siranush

Just to let you all know that I have discussed with Philadel the option with having Lion dance also at the start, but he recommended something else, which I think is quite interesting ( performance option called "face-changing" with the vendor for the start of the showcase: This includes a performer dancing while changing a series of masks rapidly, almost like a magic trick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bian_lian).
Philadel is now exploring the prices and other details and once the vendor gets back to him, he will send us the information.
Thank you.

This is to let you know that we agreed to start the Showcase with The face mask changing show, and as Philadel confirmed, the master is from China and the performance is about 8 mins. The cost is SGD$650 or USD514.88 according to today's rates.
Best
Siranush

Just to let you all know that I have discussed with Philadel the option with having Lion dance also at the start, but he recommended something else, which I think is quite interesting ( performance option called "face-changing" with the vendor for the start of the showcase: This includes a performer dancing while changing a series of masks rapidly, almost like a magic trick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bian_lian).
Philadel is now exploring the prices and other details and once the vendor gets back to him, he will send us the information.
Thank you.

Awesome discussions.. I'm already starting to envisage something fantastic.. as per usual, APRALO team :)
The Dikir Barat sounds interesting - I checked it out on wikipaedia - a group singing competition? Involving children would be different.. how long would a performance last, Kuek? Rinalia?

This is to let you know that we agreed to start the Showcase with The face mask changing show, and as Philadel confirmed, the master is from China and the performance is about 8 mins. The cost is SGD$650 or USD514.88 according to today's rates.
Best
Siranush

Thanks

Awesome discussions.. I'm already starting to envisage something fantastic.. as per usual, APRALO team :)
The Dikir Barat sounds interesting - I checked it out on wikipaedia - a group singing competition? Involving children would be different.. how long would a performance last, Kuek? Rinalia?

This is to let you know that we agreed to start the Showcase with The face mask changing show, and as Philadel confirmed, the master is from China and the performance is about 8 mins. The cost is SGD$650 or USD514.88 according to today's rates.
Best
Siranush

Just to let you all know that I have discussed with Philadel the option with having Lion dance also at the start, but he recommended something else, which I think is quite interesting ( performance option called "face-changing" with the vendor for the start of the showcase: This includes a performer dancing while changing a series of masks rapidly, almost like a magic trick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bian_lian).
Philadel is now exploring the prices and other details and once the vendor gets back to him, he will send us the information.
Thank you.

Hi Holly,
Thanks for getting the ideas flowing!
Just a friendly reminder that - as Ariel pointed out - Chinese New Year in 2015 will start on 19 February (see:

Awesome discussions.. I'm already starting to envisage something fantastic.. as per usual, APRALO team :)
The Dikir Barat sounds interesting - I checked it out on wikipaedia - a group singing competition? Involving children would be different.. how long would a performance last, Kuek? Rinalia?

Best
Siranush

Thanks

We have an option for using those 400$ for champagne - though not sure how much will they cost and how many we can order with this amount (Silvia, can you, please, check this). We have another option to keep those money for APRALO General Assembly, which we are planning to have in London.
So, any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you all for a great team work. Best
Siranush

Thanks

Hi Everyone
Can we start - please - with a terrific Lion Dance - to take up at least some of the surplus! And possible champagne as part of the drinks?

Dear Siranush et al,

As there is a surplus (approx. US $ 1,371.94) now, APRALO may want to consider having the pins ? or any other promotional materials?
Thank you!

Dear All, Since Singapore is home to most Asian diaspora - I think we can get some performers to do one entertainment piece that features: - Tamil Dancers; - Chinese; - Malay; - Pacific dancers (either Cook Islands/Samoa/PNG); ICANN should fly in some dancers from Rarotonga, Cook Islands so that people can have a taste of Asia Pacific. I don't want to be a party pooper, but I do think we've (all RALOs) exhausted the music and dancing idea. I think something more productive (can still be fun) is better suited to this environment. It's only my thoughts... Raf Sent from my iPhone

I’m not sure I agree with Raf’s no dancing, but the Dikir Barat idea does provide something both Asian and different. And Sala - I don’t think the budget would go to flying in dancers from wherever. I loved seeing the dancers in the cook Islands when I was there - but getting them to Singapore would not be cheap, and I think we should start with our budget - funds we have and funds we could realistically raise. Good point Holly.. Hopefully the Asia Pac Hub could consider getting Pacific cultural performers into the Opening Day...so we can start to see some of the Pac in the Asia Pac. I like Ali's suggestion regarding 'got talent' and it can not necessarily be a singer or a dancer, there must be other talented participants within this program. Lianna On Fri, November 7, 2014 1:04 am, Ali AlMeshal wrote:

I just so love these discussions… M From: Holly Raiche [mailto:h.raiche@internode.on.net] Sent: Thursday, 6 November 2014 10:51 a.m. To: Salanieta T. And Sala - I don’t think the budget would go to flying in dancers from wherever. I loved seeing the dancers in the cook Islands when I was there - but getting them to Singapore would not be cheap, and I think we should start with our budget - funds we have and funds we could realistically raise.
