[At-Large] RES: DOC Notice of Inquiry: DNSSEC
Hello Jeffrey, What I said about America pertains to the US Government position on ICANN and Internet policy making, and I think I gave a fair description and even if there was an observation or two that were critical about the US Government, it is not fair to dub the entire message as anti-american. It is not meant to be. On Security aspects I do agree that there is a need for Security fixes, but I am concerned by the fact that the issues are projected blown up in a manner of raising an alarm so as to warrant measures that would severely compromise privacy aspects.. This is a big topic, I have been very brief... In its brevity, the message might have sounded anti-american, it was not meant to be. Sivasubramanian and all,
I am sorry to read or your and JFC's anti american rhetoric that is obviously not in the "Greater Good" of users no matter where they reside or what their nationality is.
I have my problems and disagreements with the current administration, but I completely support a safe Internet, which does not exist now largely, but certainly not entirely due to ICANN's lack of doing it's job in policing it's Accredited Agents, namely Registries and Registrars and to a degree Accrediting and continuing to remain Accredited some of those agents despite fully recognizing their poor stuartship of their respective Registries and Registrars as well as actively promoting pornography, i.e. .XXX. Without a safe internet, and especially it basic structure being secure, namely the DNS and IP addressing, ecommerce cannot and will not flourish.

Dear Sivasubramanian,
From what we can observe, some cute pragmatic people in Washington keep a cold mind and follow a clear but seemingly delayed strategy that has been documented in http://withehouse.gov/pcipb. They go by the book and do not consider ICANN as anything else than what it is : a hook to fish foreign contributions to the US' benefit.

Hello Morfin,
Thank you for your response. I visited the link http://www.whitehouse.gov/pcipb/ which lists several PDFs on the US strategy for Securing Cyberspace (homeland Cyberspace ? !!)
When the US Government talks about securing Cyberspace, it sounds like "Weapons of Mass Destruction, Weapons of Mass Destruction" to me ...

( Could you point me to exact resource in that page that has references to ICANN and indicate how US views ICANN as you have mentioned ? ) _______________________________________________ At-Large mailing list At-Large@atlarge-lists.icann.org
