Shall we keep the survey open for a period of two weeks (ie., from 06:00 UTC on 8 Dec 2018 to 06:00 UTC on 22 Dec 2018) ?

Staff will send out a reminder after a week, and one more 48 hours before the deadline.

Of course if we get a stack of people responding as this category and literally not knowing they are in an ALS but we have not got them as unaffiliated...that gives us another issue to deal with regarding effective communication between ALSes and their own members and perhaps a need to relook at our own ALS Membership rules regarding our requirements for Individual (unaffiliated) Members *shudder* 

I also added a note on the ATLAS III question to clarify the following... (note already supported travellers such as ALAC and AP-LT members, for example, should indicate No)  because we want to count potential interest in New ATLAS only travellers.

Here is some edits I did.

- Since all questions are set as required I added the following to the first question: (Accredited Individual Member type "unaffiliated") 

 

- I added in the first section a request for the name but kept it optional (because we find some respondents wanted to let us know that they took the survey)

But, when I tried testing the survey to estimate the time, I found the Form still wanted my name as required even if I set this question as optional. Any insights on this problem?

 

- If I understood Cheryl correctly about the "thank you", I added the thank text -below- at the last section. But since I didn't take the survey maybe the thank you that Cheryl put comes after the responded hit the submit button. Hence the last text I added should be deleted.

 

"APRALO Leadership Team is thank you for the time you've taken in response to this survey."

 

- I removed all the responses

When we run the survey, we as WG, would be good to share this survey personally with 4 or 5 members from APRALO member or from ALS active members. This will help in our wide reach of the survey.

As we have discussed several issues already, here's my suggestion on the next step:

 

Nadira has kindly set up the draft Google Form-based survey that we will be sending out to the apac-discuss list. Our immediate task is to complete the survey form. For this, I'd recommend the following process:

 

a. Cheryl, as the senior-most amongst us (and an expert in all things ICANN), to suggest any additions or deletions in the policy topics, by directly editing the survey form (assuming Cheryl has the free time to do this!)

 

b. Justine, who has kindly volunteered to add a one-line description to each policy item, to complete this task, again by directly editing the form

 

c. Once this is done, the rest of us can suggest any additional topics over this list, and once there is a rough consensus, Nadira can edit the form to include the item

 

 

While all of us have edit privileges, I'd recommend that we do any substantive modifications after we have consensus on this list.

 

e. Before we send out the form to the community, we need to do a few rounds of testing. The link for testing is https://goo.gl/forms/0fzZSeXTWKUjoXp73

 

Pls note that we will announce the opening and closing of testing rounds on this list. After the testing is over, Nadira will purge the test

submissions from the output spreadsheet, and then we will open the survey to the community.

 

I'd also like to propose a section towards the end of the form where we ask the community how they are presently getting policy inputs (for example from ICANN website, CPWG, ALAC/At-Large meetings etc) and how we can improve such knowledge transfer, but I will propose this later after the basic survey form is completed.

 

Any other suggestions and comments are welcome.
