But if it makes things less complicated then I'm okay with removing the classifications.
What would be good if you check all these suggested ICANN related topics below to (edit/add/delete) in order to reflect possible topics APRALO community be interested to handle. Out of the this WG both Cheryl and you are the most experienced in the various policy discussions.
- ICANN Policy priorities in relevance to APRALO:
Geographical names
Competition, Consumer Trust and Consumer Choice
DNS Anti-abuse
DNS Security and abuse
Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) and Universal Acceptance
DNSSEC
New gTLD Subsequent Rounds
gTLD Registration Data (EPDP)
* ICANN's Accountability and Transparency
My proposed one-liners indicate my reading and support of selected topics as a starting point. If no one else has a better idea of the description-less topics, then I would suggest we consider removing those on account of duplication? That would be the easier way out.
Regarding the Internet Governance section and trend emerging sections we can either remove both questions or select and edit the topics to make it related to what At-large/APRALO engaged in.I think those are fine as they are except my earlier comment on the topic of Human Rights. Are we talking about the impact of ICANN's internal policies and procedures on human rights? Or say the narrower remit of Freedom of Expression angle within New gTLD Subsequent Procedures?
As for your the membership questions, I used Satish's exact words.
6. What an "Accredited ALS Individual Member" is?It is like you, a member who applied to be as an individual member and you went into the process to be accredited.I am an (accredited) APRALO Individual Member not an ALS Individual Member - I understood individual membership and membership in an ALS to be mutually exclusive, so what bothered me is the combined use of "ALS" and "Individual Member" - seeing the present options I would have selected "Other" to describe myself.
7. What is the difference between "ALS Representative Member of APRALO" and "ALS Member"?The accredited ALS org, assign their official representatives (usually 2) to be on the APAC discuss list.As for the ALS member, someone who was a representative but his term is over and chose to stay in the list or even an ordinary member from any ALS, this survey will be shared with them to engage them or make them aware of what APRALO are intended to do.I wonder if "ALS Member Representative to APRALO" might be a clearer designation (while retaining "ALS Member" as is). In any case, I thought Satish had simplified the choices to just 3 or did I misread his earlier suggestion?
I hope this is helpfulNadiraOn Thu, Dec 6, 2018, 21:14 Justine Chew <justine.chew@gmail.com wrote:I have added one-liners where I can (hopefully I have correctly understood what the suggestions relate to) but I'm having some difficulty working out:
1. Why geoname TLDs falls under Domain Name Policy Areas while "New gTLD Subsequent Rounds" falls under Cross-Community Topics?
2. Whether "New gTLD Subsequent Rounds" needs to explicitly refer to things like Applicant Support Program, Community-TLDs?
3. What "Domains Anti-Abuse" actually means and how is it not part of CCT?
4. How DNS Security and Abuse is disconnected from DNSSEC?
5. Which aspect of Human Rights are we referring to?
6. What an "Accredited ALS Individual Member" is?
7. What is the difference between "ALS Representative Member of APRALO" and "ALS Member"?

Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to help out in this task.I suggest the following as next steps.1. ResourcesFor reference, our Wiki is available at https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Hot+Topics+20192. Action ItemsAs we have discussed several issues already, here's my suggestion on the next step:Nadira has kindly set up the draft Google Form-based survey that we will be sending out to the apac-discuss list. Our immediate task is to complete the survey form. For this, I'd recommend the following process:a. Cheryl, as the senior-most amongst us (and an expert in all things ICANN), to suggest any additions or deletions in the policy topics, by directly editing the survey form (assuming Cheryl has the free time to do this!)b. Justine, who has kindly volunteered to add a one-line description to each policy item, to complete this task, again by directly editing the formc. Once this is done, the rest of us can suggest any additional topics over this list, and once there is a rough consensus, Nadira can edit the form to include the itemd. The link for editing the survey form is: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/12CREhNUXGUChJksUQD_T1NhwerGfB4p0ZlltfhForUU/edit?usp=sharingWhile all of us have edit privileges, I'd recommend that we do any substantive modifications after we have consensus on this list.e. Before we send out the form to the community, we need to do a few rounds of testing. The link for testing is https://goo.gl/forms/0fzZSeXTWKUjoXp73Pls note that we will announce the opening and closing of testing rounds on this list. After the testing is over, Nadira will purge the testsubmissions from the output spreadsheet, and then we will open the survey to the community.I'd also like to propose a section towards the end of the form where we ask the community how they are presently getting policy inputs (for example from ICANN website, CPWG, ALAC/At-Large meetings etc) and how we can improve such knowledge transfer, but I will propose this later after the basic survey form is completed.Any other suggestions and comments are welcome. Thanks again, and with kind regards,satish_______________________________________________On Thu, Dec 6, 2018 at 4:34 PM Yesim Nazlar <yesim.nazlar@icann.org> wrote:_______________________________________________Dear APRALO Hot Topics WG Members,
