Buying the entire registry is “simply” a change of control of the contract with ICANN.
It’s got nothing to do with bulk transfers etc.,
So if, for example, my company were to buy .widget from $current-registry the control of the contract would change. Depending on the details then it’s just an update or maybe a little more.
Companies change hands all the time.

Hello Michele,
I will like to understand the policy and processes that makes this possible, from the ICANN website the closest I could find is bulk transfers[1] and such transfers can only happen if there is agreement termination or acquisition of registrar.
However it seem this particular scenario doesn't fall in any of the 2 transfer options, does it?.
