I can remember the very first time I had a chat with her. She stopped me, as I walked down the stairs of the conference venue, the Hilton in Sydney. She said something like "Excuse me, I have noticed you are new here and I wonder if you know who I am?" I responded that I had seen her introduce herself at the Public Forum using her trademarked introduction. She responded, "that's right, I don't think you know who I am, we need to talk", as she asked me if I had time to sit with her for a coffee. In 30 minutes we found out we had fought on opposite sides of the battle lines in the past and then exchanged views on all matters of Internet Governance and she became a regular "Olivier, we need to talk" at every ICANN meeting. I feel grateful for her support for so many of the things in ICANN that benefited end users and that needed a little nudge to take place at critical moments. Over the years, she became a friend. Her real name was "M". :-)
